Date: 5 Sept 2017
Subject: Updated Internet Usage Policy
Some may say that in today's technological age it is not realistic to have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to personal internet use. We prefer to take an approach that protects the interest of the company but still allows you all some freedoms, provided those freedoms are not abused.
Internet use on company time and while using company equipment to include wireless connection for personal devices is restricted to lunch breaks and break times. The streaming of music throughout the work day is authorized provided the site being utilized is legal. All use of social media, except by the marketing department in conjunction with their daily duties, is strictly prohibited. Also prohibited are games and pornography.
Personal E-mail may be utilized however understand that any information that leaves our network is subject to filtering and inspection. Any electronic information on our network or servers, or that leaves our network and servers is also subject to filtering and inspection.
The purpose is not to restrict your privacy but to protect the company. We want to ensure that information that is against our ethics and moral standards and could tarnish our reputation does not affect business. Information that gets to our competitors or otherwise puts us in a compromising legal position could have a negative effect on jobs.
If there are any questions about this new policy please contact HR or IT.
