A weekly bulletin for Parents and Students

04 May 2012 Dear Parents, I have attached the summary of the recent survey on parents’ opinions about the school. At the bottom of the excel sheet are pages for ES, MS and HS so that you can see the range of opinions about the whole school. I had intended to keep the survey open for another ten days or so but so few responses came in during the last week that it made sense to give you this information as soon as possible.

As you will remember, your opinions are rated on a six-point scale with 0 being an “I Don’t Know” response. The result show the average point score per question (and of course, the closer the average to six, the better parents perceive that particular area to be), and then the number of positive scores versus the number of negative scores (with 6, 5, 4 equaling positive and 3, 2, 1 equaling negative).

I do want you to know that we take your opinions as represented in the survey with great seriousness. The survey has been discussed already at a full Leadership Team meeting; the results are now with the Principals and I shall be meeting with them separately this week in order for us to discuss your thoughts in more depth.

It does appear that the experiment of doing this survey online not only saved paper but also generated a better response, especially in the Middle and High Schools. Of course, the more people who reply, the more reliable the information is, and next year I shall be encouraging you once again to complete these parent surveys.

Yours sincerely, David Toze Superintendent

Since the launch at the beginning of the school year the ATAC blog has to date received over 25,ooo visits and has provided valuable up to date information for ISM students/parents in a wide variety of ATAC program areas. We are constantly updating the blog to provide current information and in our quest to do so you will notice a new twitter service now available. If buses or flights are delayed a tweet can be posted to inform parents and to allow them to keep updated if events like this occur. If you are a regular IASAS host family this service may be of use as tweets will be posted if arriving teams have been delayed at the airport and pick up times are affected. You can view tweets on the blog home page and also by subscribing to twitter/setting up an account you can follow ISManilaAD by clicking on the ‘follow me’ button at the blog home page and you can receive updates directly to your cell phone to keep updated on the go with all the Bearcats action! During IASAS weeks score updates/results and medal performances will also be posted! Well done to our Sailfish swimmers who competed in Hong Kong last weekend. From all reports it was a busy (over 500 swimmers competing at the meet) weekend…for full results check the sailfish blog.
