From the Clinic:
It is coming up to the time of year when many of you will pay a return visit to the countries you call home. One of the jobs which is often on the list of things to complete when you are at home is updating your child’s immunizations. For your reference, I have included links to US immunization schedules for 0-6 years and 7-18 years of age. Whilst not everyone has used the US system, it is very similar to most comprehensive immunization schedules in developed countries world wide. In addition, we recommend people living in the Philippines have the typhoid vaccination. The hope is that this will prompt everyone, no matter where they are this summer, to ensure that their children are up-to-date with their immunizations. If in doubt, please check with your doctor. We love our children, let’s keep them safe! Best wishes for a happy, healthy summer, from the Clinic. http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/child/2009/09_0-6yrs_schedule_pr.pdf http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedules/downloads/child/2009/09_7-18yrs_schedule_pr.pdf

For Grade 12 Parents:
Dear parents and members of the Class of 2009: As the school year comes to a close, the time has come when the Senior Class traditionally engages in a number of special events. These activities are basically meant to allow the departing students time to both reflect on their high school days and to gain some invaluable information that will surely benefit them in the future. Above all, however, these activities are meant for the sheer enjoyment of the senior class. The Senior Class Council and graduation committee will be coordinating these activities, and have asked us to advise you regarding such activities at this time. The High School Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 25, at 12:30pm in the Fine Arts Theatre. The student body, grades 9-11 are in attendance and we would love to see as many seniors in attendance as possible. Graduation practices are on Tuesday, 26 May, Wednesday, 27 May. The practices will begin at 1:00pm in the FAT and should end before 4:00pm. Only those students who attend graduation practice sessions will be allowed to participate in our graduation ceremony. Seniors should also return textbooks, clean out lockers, settle any other outstanding accounts and complete their clearance form, in order to get their diplomas. The Senior Lunch, courtesy of the graduation committee and senior parents, will be at 11.30am on Thursday, 28 May. On the same day there will be a Senior Celebration Ceremony commencing at 3:00pm in the Fine Arts Theater. This ceremony will feature students from the senior class speaking and performing various acts. It is a fun event designed to show case senior pride and talent! All parents are invited to attend. Our Commencement Exercises will be held on Friday, 29 May, starting at 5:30pm in the Fine Arts Theater on ISM’s campus. Candidates for graduation, properly attired in caps and gowns, must assemble in the AMR no later than 4:30pm. We actually advise that seniors plan to be on the ISM campus by 4:00pm. Women are expected to wear black dress shoes as well as semi-formal dress/slacks underneath their robes. Men should wear white shirts with collars, dark ties, dark dress pants, black shoes and socks.

Each graduating student will be given four tickets for the ceremony – two tickets for the senior’s parents will have reserved seating while the other two will be on a general admission (open seating) basis. Please return extra tickets to the High
Page 6 of 12

School Office, so that they can be reissued on a first come, first served basis to accommodate those with more guests. If more than 4 tickets are needed, requests may be submitted to the High School Office. Only those with tickets will be allowed entry. Please note that pictures may only be taken from your seats; you will not be allowed near the stage or in the aisles during the ceremony. The official photographer, Tino Ley, will be on hand during the ceremony to take photos of the graduates and will also have a booth set-up in the High School Band room before the graduation ceremony. Please see the attached announcement with regards to the schedule to be followed for graduation photographs. Already included in the ISM graduation package are the following items: One (1) 5x7 photo of graduate receiving the certificate One (1) 5x7 photo of graduate holding the certificate One (1) 5x7 photo of graduate with family or group One (1) Senior Photo CD (a momento of the Senior Celebration) Additional copies of photographs can be ordered along with a DVD copy of the graduation rites. Please see the second attachment for the prices of these services. Orders may be placed directly with the photographer on the day of graduation. International School Manila is not involved in the payment and distribution of orders made with the photographer. Please remember to pay the P2500 to the cashier for the graduation package as soon as possible, to cover the costs for the official graduation pictures and the senior lunch. This year, the Junior-Senior Prom will be held on Saturday, 23 May, starting at 7:00pm and lasting until 11:30pm at the Intercontinental Hotel, Makati City. We are requiring that all students stay at the prom from 8:00pm until at least 11:00pm. We will close the doors and no students will be permitted to enter or leave the ballroom between these times. We advise parents to have their children picked up by 11.30pm at the latest when the event will officially end. Parents should also be knowledgeable about their children’s whereabouts if they have plans after the Prom, as the School will not be responsible after the official Prom event is over. It is also important that we mention the post-graduation trip to Boracay that many senior students seem to be planning. To clarify, this trip is not a school-sponsored trip and there will be no chaperones from the school. The school does not endorse participation in this event. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your involvement during this momentous time in the lives of our graduates. William R.S. Brown High School Principal
