Weight Loss Hypnosis How can weight loss hypnosis help?

Hypnosis Techniques
Understanding what you will be facing is the first step in succeeding at anything, which is why it is very important that you first understand what hypnosis is, as well as, what it is not before you try hypnosis for weight loss. By doing so, you will be able to clearly connect your body’s physical manifestations (specifically your weight issues) to the way your mind works. Those of us who have tried or learned about different weight loss programs notice that most of these have the same backbone: burn more calories than what you consume; or simply, exercise more, eat less. Because obviously, if you burn just the same amount of calories as you consume, you won’t lose weight. And if you consume more calories than what you can burn, you will of course, gain weight. So pegged on that backbone, most exercise programs are destined (statistically) to fail because they are, most of the time, too extreme. Diets in weight loss programs often restrict one or more food groups, certain types of food or restricts portions too much, too fast, that the dieter feels deprived and more likely to binge or simply quit the diet. Accompanying these very limiting diets are rigorous exercise programs that can leave the poor weight watcher feeling too weak and eventually stressed out. Between feeling like he/she is being

Hypnosis techniques.

There are many different hypnosis techniques that are used to reach the unconscious mind and invoke a permanent change. Every person is unique, that’s why the best results can be obtained by utilizing the methods that each person is more likely to respond to.

Some hypnosis techniques include:
• Changing Perspectives In many instances, the subconscious mind can be very unimaginative. It clings to one perspective, attitude or option not knowing that it has alternatives. Let us again use the example of comfort foods. Perhaps the person grew up seeing his/her mother, sister or any other family member eat large

amounts of chocolate as a remedy for stress, nervousness, sadness or any other negative emotion. Therefore, the person grew up not knowing that there are other ways to battle problems. Changing perspective will introduce an alternative reality to the subconscious, letting it know that there are better options. Such as exercise (which releases endorphins the happy hormone), or reading a book to escape reality. • Mind Disassociation This is one of the primary hypnosis techniques that a hypnotherapist can alter a patient’s perspective. People often associate their thoughts to who they are as a person. A person may feel that he/she have no control over the thoughts or images that goes through his/ her mind. Through Mind Disassociation, the person can be disassociated or separated from his/her thoughts and even his physical [concept] of his body. The person can observe his/ her thoughts as an outsider looking in therefore have better control and understanding of them (thoughts) and not view the thoughts as a dictating force of his/ her actions. • Reframing Much like a person disassociating himself or herself with thoughts, reframing makes a person believe that change is possible and therefore will not resign himself or herself to bad habits so easily. Many people can be heard saying that, “this is how I am, I need my junk food, I’m too lazy to exercise, etc.” surrendering defeat to a bad habit without as much as a struggle. By reframing the subconscious, a new story is told. Instead of the present tense affirmation of “I am a (insert bad habit here)” reframing allows the person to put all the bad habit behind him/ her and say “I was challenged by (insert bad habit here)”. Instead of resignation, it now becomes a challenge that the person will work to overcome. • Awareness of Needs Simply put, Awareness Needs is a hypnosis technique that trains the subconscious to have constant vigilance. Again, using comfort foods as an example, people often seek comfort food now knowing why they are craving. But with the subconscious alert, the person stops and thinks before actually putting that food in his/ her mouth. Questions follow. Am I really hungry? Why Am I craving this? Am I just stressed out? What is it that I really need? When the real reason behind the craving is identified, the person can then seek out a better more appropriate alternative to address the need. • Regression • Parts therapy • Direct and indirect suggestions • Substituting memory • Story telling

• Finding how to forget • Visualization All the above mentioned hypnosis techniques are indeed affective. There is, however, one hypnosis technique that is specifically developed for weight loss hypnotherapy. It is a technique designed solely for the purpose losing weight and keeping it off through.

Hypno Band Hypnosis

or

Gastric

Band

You may have heard of the gastric bypass surgery, an operation that involves making the stomach smaller and the shortening the digestive system so that from ingestion it goes almost directly to defecation giving the body no time to absorb the calories to turn them into fat. Hypno Band or Gastric Band Hypnosis is almost the same; however, it doesn’t really happen. If you want to read more about this curious kind of hypnotherapy, go to Gastric Band Hypnosis: How Hypno Band works? A person who has unhealthy eating habits needs to be induced to have a new and healthier attitude towards food. Hypnosis For Weight Loss can help foster a healthier behaviour and attitude through Suggestion or Aversion Therapy while the patient is under hypnosis. Once successful, the attitude is encouraged to be permanent so that healthier eating habits will be formed. Food is then enjoyed for the right reasons, which is for sustenance and nutrition. The person will naturally lose weight and keep it off just by letting go of bad eating habits and embracing a change and healthier lifestyle. If you are interested in what hypnosis can do to help you with your weight issues, you can try some self-hypnosis resources that are available online. Gastric Band Hypnosis Gastric Band Hypnosis: How Hypno Band works?
Hypno Band or Gastric Band Hypnosis is a hypnotherapy that induces the patient’s subconscious mind to believe that his stomach is smaller. Just like what you could have guessed based on the title, it is very similar to a gastric band surgery wherein a medical surgeon performs a surgery to tie a band around the stomach to make it smaller so that even just a little food will fill it and the person will already feel satisfied. The difference between the real gastric band surgery and hypno band is that in hypno band no surgery actually takes place, just the idea of that the stomach has become smaller.

No one really knows who or where this concept of hypno band originated from since it has been constructed many way by different hypnotherapists. After the process of hypnosis and re-hypnosis sessions, and the idea has been planted in the subconscious mind, the patient is then required to perform sessions of self-hypnosis so that the effects (or idea) will become permanent.

more delicate, your stomach will prefer lighter meals rather than full heavy meals.” Subconscious: “Wow! That’s great! I’m sure to lose weight faster now! And yes, I do feel my stomach is smaller” Later in the day, the patient becomes hungry so she eats a light meal because she feels that her stomach is delicate from the surgery. Subconscious: “Suggestion was right, I just ate one small plate of greens and now I feel like I’ve eaten a really heavy meal of steak and potatoes!” Conscious: “Amazing, hypnosis does work! My body is telling me I’m full so I’ll stop eating.” Now this is a negative conversation among the three. Suggestion: “Hello Subconscious, the operation is now over. You stomach has been greatly reduced so you will feel full faster and hungry less often. Since your stomach is now smaller and more delicate, your stomach will prefer lighter meals rather than full heavy meals.” Subconscious: “Wow! That’s great! I’m sure to lose weight faster now! And yes, I do feel my stomach is smaller” Conscious: “You can’t possibly feel that your stomach is smaller. That’s silly! There was no surgery Subconscious!” Subconscious: “But, but, but I did get the surgery!” And the two continued to bicker and argue until lunch time came and the patient was hungry. Subconscious: “Suggestion was right, I just ate one small plate of greens and now I feel like I’ve eaten a really heavy meal of steak and potatoes! I told you conscious!” Conscious: “Are you crazy? One small plate of salad and you’re full? You still have to eat some more, look there’s some potatoes and roast pork, you should eat some more” And Conscious continued to bully and argue with Subconscious until the latter formed doubts and became unconvinced whether a surgery actually took place. So again, it is best that you give your hundred percent and cooperate with the procedure so that it’ll work more effectively.

How does gastric band hypnosis work?
You may wonder how this can be effective since the person is fully aware that the surgery did not take place. You may think that the idea is quite absurd, because really, how could a person fool himself? Well the thing is, even if the person’s conscious mind is fully aware that the surgery did not take place, his subconscious mind believes otherwise. Since the two are on different levels, therefore, it doesn’t matter whether the conscious mind knows differently because it is the subconscious who will dictate to your body certain physiologically functions and reactions, and that includes feeling full. However, despite knowing the fact that the subconscious and the conscious mind are on separate levels, it would not help if the person will keep fighting against what the subconscious believes. There has been a lot of buzz about Gastric Band Hypnosis. And just like anything that is thrown in the press, the concept of hypno band gained two kinds of audiences, the believers and the skeptics. Others are curious of whether this actually works to help people lose weight, while others have closed their minds and concluded that this is merely another fad. The process itself is quite curious. A real gastric band surgical procedure is actually stimulated so that they are represented as if they really did happen. Great care is taken so that the simulation will be accurate and very realistic up to the last detail; so the simulation will include replicating the smells, sounds and there will be instruments as props. It will be like entering into a world of drama where in you will be the actor. It will be so realistic that you will get so taken in and engrossed by your role completely, especially the subconscious. As mentioned previously, hypnosis works better if the patient is willing to cooperate. Let us treat the subconscious mind, conscious mind and the hypnosis therapy as three separate entities. To illustrate the points in a non-conventional discussion, let us look into a positive conversation among suggestion, subconscious and conscious. Suggestion: “Hello Subconscious, the operation is now over. You stomach has been greatly reduced so you will feel full faster and hungry less often. Since your stomach is now smaller and

Mind Body Connection How does the mind and body connection work?

Prolonged stress can dig up emotional problems long buried in the past, building up more things to worry and feel upset about, increasing an individual’s reason for depression. Just a simple mind body connection test, try doing something you enjoy and notice how much faster and better you accomplish a task that you enjoy it compared to a task that you would rather not do. After completing the task, if you have enjoyed it, you may feel tired but fulfilled but if you did not, you may just feel extremely exhausted.

Relaxation Techniques Relaxation techniques for mind and body
There have been moments in our lives wherein we are preoccupied with worries about work, family or relationships that those around us notice that we look under the weather. There are also those times when we are happy, for example, because we are in love or infatuated that those around us comment that we are “glowing”. These simple examples illustrate the mind body connection. It can be as simple as aesthetic manifestation or in more serious cases, it can affect our health. Just as a negative mental health can sap out our physical health, a positive outlook in life can help keep us healthy. Numerous scientific researches have proven this mind body connection to be true. People who are generally happier live a longer or healthier life, whilst those who think negatively or especially those who suffer mental disorders such as anxiety disorder are at risk of many kinds of ailments as well as premature death. The reason for this is simply because when you are feeling particularly negative (stress, anxious or upset) your body can feel that something is not working right. Sometimes, it can be quite obvious why your health is deteriorating. When you are so preoccupied with such worries, you may not notice it but you may not be taking care of yourself like you should. You may not eating right, not sleeping, not exercising (sometimes depression can cause lethargy that is so absolute that you are tired from doing nothing) and sometimes, people may turn to alcohol for comfort. One may not be aware that they are neglecting their body’s health and will therefore be surprised that their immune system has really weakened making them more susceptible to sickness. And since the mind and body take their supply of sustenance and energy from the same source, when your mind is using all your energy to worry, feel anxious or upset, your body is left feeling fatigued, irritable or unable to concentrate in the even the most relaxed situations.

Just as Fight and Flight response sends a person’s nerves into hyper vigilance, relaxation does the exact opposite. Relaxation triggers the release of neurochemicals to decrease blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate therefore lowering oxygen consumption sending the person into a serene and tranquil state of mind. Relaxation releases increased level of alpha brain waves which is associated with a more peaceful and calm wellbeing… hence relaxation. When in the relaxed state, the person becomes more trusting, more emotionally positive and an overall increase in the sense of mental and physical well-being soon follows. Being a physiological response, there are numerous ways to stimulate this kind of state through relaxation techniques.

Some of the best techniques include:
Exercise

relaxation

The easiest relaxation technique to go into a relaxed state is by expending excess stress hormones through vigorous physical activity.

Self-hypnosis
Self-Hypnosis is also a very good relaxation technique, because of course there are times wherein our bodies are incapable of physical activity.

Breathing
Breathing exercises aids in mind and body relaxation by simply mimicking the way you breathe when your body is relaxed.

Flight or Fight What is fight or flight response?

Yoga
Couple with deep breathing techniques, yoga is a discipline that originate din India. It incorporates meditation with moving and stationary poses to achieve a peaceful state of mind that will eventually lead into spiritual insight. Yoga has been adapted in the west as a form of exercise for the mind and body. Deep breathing is required in the practice of yoga. Doing yoga exercises provides relief from stress as well as a healthy balance for someone who lives a fast paced life as it allows one to naturally get in touch with her inner peace.

Meditation
Meditation is effective at reducing negative emotions especially if it cultivates mindfulness or awareness.

Progressive Muscle Relaxation
In this process, the person will be required to systematically relax and tense different muscle groups. This helps the person familiarize with the body and with regular practice, the person becomes aware of how tension and relaxation feels like in various parts of the body.

Another way that emotions affect physical health is the human body’s built-in response mechanism or some may even call them reflexes or even, human instinct. Although many researches have disputed the existence of instinct in modern humans because we have developed the ability to override these primal reactions, for the purpose of this article, let as refer to a human body’s built in response as “instinct”. There are two human instincts; it is either fight or flight. When facing a difficult situation, humans have either of the two initial reactions. For example, if you are faced a scary situation, maybe of the supernatural kind or of the more earthly experience such as fear of being attacked by seedy characters. Some people will fight and face the situation head on, maybe to investigate the source of that “scary apparition” or buckle up to ready themselves to fight thugs. While others will turn tail and walk or run away as quickly as they can towards the other direction. But no matter which of these two responses, a person will initially feel an increase in their palpitation, tense up and feel their senses work in over drive, as in, ears perk up to pick up sounds more accurately, that feeling wherein something swooped inside your stomach and took everything in it and deposited it in your limbs(this is actually the blood migrating from the digestive tract to the muscles and limbs to ready for the action), sight sharpens and our body is paralyzed for a second to take in everything in our environment that may be possible threats to our very survival. Once all the needed hormones are released, which can take just a split second, we feel like an extra sensitive super power getting ready to either run for it or fight for our lives. To give you a more scientific explanation on what happens, the body’s nerves act up in overdrive to fire up adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol and other such super chemicals to be released in our blood stream to help us become the super paranoid super power that will be able to handle such a life threatening situation. We have this instinct simply because our ancestors had this instinct so that they would have been able to survive in the wild. Although today, we have the ability to override this sort of instinct and react differently based on what we were nurtured to do, the initial or natural reaction remains the same. Such as a slighted man will have an instinct to fight, but chooses to walk away because it is more acceptable in society or even vice versa.

Hypnotic Relaxation
For this kind of relaxation, guided imagery or visualization is used. A person is asked to visualize a scene where she feels most at peace, to imagine a place where all tension and anxiety can be freely let go. It can be any scene at all: a place from the past, an imaginary place or somewhere that a person wishes she is right at the moment. It can be the woods, a scenic ice-capped mountain, green meadows or a tropical beach, it doesn’t matter. This can be done through self-hypnosis, with a therapist or with help from an audio recording. If you are to try this relaxation technique, be as imaginative and creative as you can. Be as detailed as you possibly can, incorporate as much sensory details as your memory or imagination permits. The more real you can visual this place the better. We recommend our Free Hypnosis Downloads where you can find lots of mp3 tracks to induce hypnotic relaxation. Written by Jocyl Macasa

But sometimes, this sort of fight or flight behavior may be triggered by situations that are not really deemed as very threatening. Once this instinct is triggered, it is natural to perceive everything around you as a possible threat, like as mentioned; this kind of instinct can turn someone paranoid wherein fear is the most dominant and driving emotion making it impossible to think clearly. All rationality gone, a person’s reaction becomes intense and exaggerated, emotions are heightened and life becomes stressful because the person is perpetually in survival mode making it impossible to relax and enjoy life.
