I Can’t Change My Clothes

There is a black bear who is cleaver tailor. He has made some clothes and he wants to sel them in the jungle. There are many different kinds of clothes, all very beautiful. The animals praise the black bear for the beautiful clothes he has made. But strangely enough, nobody seems to be interested in buying from him.

The black bear says to the frog, “Frog, please take off your green coat and change into this one!” The frog refuses so she says, “No, I can’t! There are blood vessels all over my green coat. They help me breathe in the water. If I change it for this one, how can I breathe then?”

The black bear says to the python, “Python, your coat is too old, so why don’t you buy a new one?” The python sticks out his tongue and says, “No, I can’t! I need the scales on my coat for crawling about. If I change it for another one, how can I crawl then?”

The black bear waves to the eagle and says, “Eagle, come and buy a peacock skirt. Look at it, it’s so beautiful!” The eagle flaps her wings and says, “If I wear this skirt, I won’t be able to fly fast and high any more.”

The black bear says to the porcupine, “Porcupine, your coat is too stiff. Change into one which is softer!” “No, I Can’t!” says the porcupine. My coat is full of prickles. They will all stand up when the enemies come by. This will stop them from coming near me.”

The black bear says to the chameleon, “Chameleon, come and choose a beautiful coat, and I’ll give it free to you!” “No, thank you!’ says the chameleon. “My coat can change its colour in different places, and this helps me to disguise my self. So I can’t change it for a new coat!”

In the end, the black bear does not sell any of his clothes. But he has learned something, that the clothes of each different kind animal has its special use.
