Instructional Design Scenario
Scenario You are teaching an online course in a content area and level of your choice (your context). You have fifteen high achieving students who have met nearly all of the outcomes of the course through individual study and assessment. The course has been a good experience for you and for the students. With three weeks left of the course, you realize that despite having met the specific Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) for the content area, the students have not had the opportunity to interact with each other very much, nor have they demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving. You propose a group problem-based learning project--they groan and complain. Instructions: Create a new posting titled "Instructional Design Scenario_YourLastName" to describe a project that would engage your students, encourage collaboration, and create an online community. Limit your response to 3-5 paragraphs, and include links and references if you wish.

Students, Throughout the year we have worked on several standards in order to cover the entire 8th grade mathematics curriculum. In order to review for the CRCT our cumulative statewide test, you will be completing a collaborative review project with an assigned group. There are five major standards in 8th grade math including Number Systems, Expressions and Equations, Functions, Geometry, and Statistics/Probability. Each group of three will be assigned one of the following five topics. Please check your email to see which topic you have been assigned and who your two other group members are. Each group has been assigned a discussion board on the course management system page. Please conduct all group discussions on this board as evidence of your group collaboration. During your project you are required to create an interactive review lesson for the rest of the class whether it is a game, PowerPoint presentation, prezi…etc. The review lesson must cover all standards listed on the georgiastandards.org website under your topic. You can also find your assigned standards on the homepage of the course website under the section labeled “Review Project”. There must be at least four review slides/questions pertaining to each standard. Each group has a different amount of standards and will in turn have a different amount of required information. After your group has completed your review project it needs to be submitted in the discussion board on the homepage labeled Peer Review. Each person in the class is required to critique at least three projects other than their own. Please provide both encouraging and helpful comments to make each presentation better. I will also provide instructor feedback if I see anything that your peers have not addressed. When critiquing work make sure not only to critique style and effort but also mathematical accuracy. If something is mathematically incorrect help one another to correct mistakes, the peer editing helps to act as review of concepts as well. Once all editing has been completed please have one member of your group submit the review project in the course dropbox for a grade as well as in the course folder labeled CRCT

REVIEW. You now have a great source to review all 8th grade math concepts, so that you will be successful on the CRCT. Good luck on your project, Miss Harrison
