Launch of IRNSS-1B
The Underdevelopment programme of launching 7 Navigation satellites is 2/7th completed with the launch of IRNSS 1B.
What are the premier Space agencies?
NASA(National Aeronautics and space administration)
ESA(European Space Agency)
ISRO(Indian space reserach Organisation, ranks 7th as per budget on space programs) founded by Vikram Sarabhai...Thnku Sir..:)
Established in 1969 and first satellite Aryabhatta in 1975 but was launched by Russia,Since then ISRO hs evolved a a lot.
The constraint was lack of India's own launch vehicle/rocket/Carrier:
The Launch Vehicles of India are:
SLV(Satellite Launch Vehicle,Solid fuel,4 stage, low capacity that is it can carry small payload(payload is the kilogram of cargo aka satellite carried by any
rocket).Rohini in 1980 first satellite launched through this Vehicle by the initiatives of Dr.Abul Kalam.
ASLV(Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle)-5 stages,Solid fuel,150 kg payload)
PSLV(Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle)-Most successful launch vehicle of India,4 stages ,uses solid and liquid propulsion fuel,Dinitrogen
tetraoxide+Hydrazine(highly unstable).Also called as ISRO’s workhorse.
GSLV(geosynchronus satellite launch Vehicle)-used to launch satellites at higher altitudes, solid+liquid+Cryogenic(Fuel to be maintained at extremely low
temperature)
as the name geosynchrouns suggest satellites launched in Circular orbit around earth and synchronised with earth's rotation..WEST to EAST.India's INSAT
satelites.
What are the major Space Missions of India?
Chandrayaan-1(2008) & Chandrayan 2(2016 proposed)-to study presence of water on moon
Mars Orbiter Mission:(To study mars..launched into earth's orbit on November 2013.will enter Mars orbit in 2014,september)
PSLV was used to launch it.
at SHAR(Sriharikota Range now called SDSC(Satish Dhawan Space Centre)
What are the Navigation satellites launched by India ?
IRS(Indian Remote Sensing)-To look for positioning of missiles in the Indian Ocean,a total of 7 satellites to be launched,IRNSS-1A is launched,IRNSS-1B was
launched yesterday by the use of PSLV-C24 from SHAR,SDSC,sriharikota island, andhra pradesh.
SARAL(stands for Satellite for Argos-3 and Altika) Indo- French joint venture, to study Ocean activities.
What are the Satellites Launched during 2013-14?
July 2013-INSAT-3D(Indian National Satellite system)..the INSAT refers to a class and the term 3D is called generation of satellites.
Geosysnchronous
meterology
launched from ARiane 5 at French Guyana(This is the rental launch site an offsite possession of france in South America)
August 2013 -GSAT-7(a part of geosynchronous satellites for communication
Launching Vehicle-Ariane-5
launching site-French Guyana
January 2014-GSAT-14(to replace GSAT-3)
communication satellite+Geosynchronous
Launch Vehicle-GSLV-D5(indigenous)
Launch Site-Sriharikota Range
April 2014-Launch of IRNSS-1B
Launch Vehicle-PSLV C24
Launch Site-Sriharikota,Andhra Pradesh
other space organisations in India:
VSSC(vikram Sarabhai Space centre,Thiruvananthapuram(hope spelling is right..:P)
LPSC(Liquid propulsion system centre) kerela,Tamil nadu,Bangy..its bangalore)
PRL(Physical Research Lab,Ahmedabad..This is the Lab that had suggested use of Electoral Ink containing Silver Nitrate which turns into a permanent dye on
exposure to UV and is removed only after removal of dead cells.
NE-SAC-North Eastern – Space Application Centre..Shillong
