"he course is led 1y Anne Brassart 0/ans& a 8ualified and e9!erienced teacher of French as a
foreign language and also of French literature& s!ecifically !oetry. She has wor.ed in France and a1road
as a college 'rinci!al as well as teacher. She is also a !oetry and tra/el writer.
She has dedicated her course to the late 'rofessor :a2es Lawler& a great teacher of French
literature at the ;ni/ersity of <estern Australia in 'erth& at the ;ni/ersity of Chicago& in Canada& and at
the Sor1onne in 'aris where he s!ent the rest of his life. 7e has used !oetry as an efficient way of
teaching the French language& and his te9t 1oo. was widely used for decades in schools all o/er
Australia& the ;.=. and the ;.S. 7e has 1een the ins!iration for the setting u! of this course. 7e also
