Achim Glogowski is General Manager Marketing for the Volkswagen Group Singapore, consulting and steering the marketing activities of importers in the Asia Pacific region. Before he moved to Singapore in 2006 he consulted, steered and controlled the advertising activities of Volkswagen importers worldwide as the Head of Volkswagen Advertising International. He has more than 12 years experience in international marketing communications and conducted brand reviews in more than 30 countries.

Ali Shabaz JWT Singapore Executive Creative Director
After eight years in advertising, six in India and two in the Middle East, Ali came to Singapore to join BBDO in the year 2000. And in the next five years his work on brands like Pizza Hut, Visa, FedEx and ICI Paints won him a few Silver Nominations at D&AD, Lions at Cannes, Pencils at One Show, Clios and recognition at almost every award show. In 2005, his campaign for Pizza Hut was the 8th most awarded print campaign in the world according to the Gunn Report. The same year BBDO Singapore was voted the 2nd most creative agency in Asia. Soon after, Ali joined JWT Singapore as ACD and was promoted to Creative Director within a year. Between ’06 and ‘07, JWT Singapore finished 2007 as the 3rd most awarded WPP office in the world and the most awarded JWT office in the world. JWT Singapore also finished 2007 ranked as the 6th Most Creative Agency in Asia by Campaign Brief Asia. Ali has made the top -10 list of most creative people in Asia by Campaign Brief for two years in a row. He was voted the Advertising Professional of the Year by IAS in 2006. Obtained her Bachelor in Business Administration from National University of Singapore, and Masters in Business Administration from University of Strathclyde. Spent 15 years with the Seagram Spirits and Wine Group, last appointment being Commercial Director of Martell Cognac, with turnover of USD$130 million and Marketing budget of USD$28 million, in the Asia Pacific region (13 countries). In 2002, Carol left her lucrative career in the private sector for family reasons. She joined the National Arts Council as its Deputy Chief Executive Officer in Sept that year. As an arts-lover and then mother of two very young children, she believed that more could be done to promote the arts in Singapore, especially to the young. In NAC, she helped to restructure the Council and begun talks on strengthening the Arts Education area. She also provided strategic inputs, cultural policy, and organization development and managed the day-to-day operations of the Council. Seconded to the parent Ministry of NAC since 2004, Carol now heads the National Marketing Division of the Ministry of Information Communications and the Arts (MICA). Its mission is to create affinity for Singapore and win friends and fans. The Division articulated and shared with key Ministries the positioning platform for marketing Singapore. Chang Chee Pey Singapore Tourism Board Director
Mr Chang Chee Pey assumed his new appointment as Director, Brand Management on 2 January 2009. As Director, Brand Management, Chee Pey is responsible for Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) brand strategy and campaigns, and developing strong and positive brand perceptions worldwide. He will also ensure that the brands developed are applied consistently and effectively to all marketing and promotional initiatives conducted by the key stakeholders. Chee Pey brings with him a wealth of regional experience in the tourism industry, having held various roles within the STB throughout his 12 years with the Board. In his capacity as Regional Director, ASEAN (Mainland), Chee Pey was responsible for managing the operations of STB’s four regional offices in Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru and Bangkok, as well as planning and executing the marketing and promotional activities within these markets. As Director International Marketing, a position which he held from April to December 2008, Chee Pey’s key responsibility was to integrate the industry’s activities and products with the marketing efforts of the STB’s 24 Regional Offices. From 2003 – 2006, Chee Pey served as Director of Sightseeing & Cruise. During his tenure with STB’s Leisure Group, he was involved in key developmental projects such as the Singapore Flyer, the Orchard Road Mall Enhancement project and the S$10 million Singapore Fly-Cruise Development Fund. Chua Foo Yong Singapore Media Academy Managing Director
Chua Foo Yong is one of Singapore’s most experience broadcast personalities and an industry veteran. She joined the department of broadcasting during Radio Television Singapore time in the 1960s before the birth of Singapore Broadcasting Corporation, a statutory board. Foo Yong started as a producer presenter, rose through the ranks and eventually became the Managing Director of Singapore Media Academy. Foo Yong has held various Radio & TV positions in the organization, where she accomplished many achievements including having led the first commercial Chinese radio broadcast and designed Format Stations and increased the operation of 5 radio stations to 12 in the last 10 years. In June 2006, appointed Executive Advisor to the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Singapore Media Academy, and has been invited to chair and speak at many international media-related conferences since then. Apart from her current appointment as the Managing Director for the first Media Continuing Education and Training (CET) Centre, Foo Yong has also been active in public services holding serveral key appointments since 2006. Giri Venkatesh Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Deputy General Manager
Having graduated from Middlesex University, London in Business Management, Giri embarked on his career with Toyota in Malaysia in 1997, firstly in the National Sales Operations function before moving to the town of Seremban to head the local branch. He was then seconded to Toyota Motor Asia Pacific, Singapore where he was intricately involved in developing the marketing strategy of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Toyota Camry and the launch of the IMV Series in Asia. In 2005, he moved back to Malaysia to head the Brand Management function for Toyota and was in charge of the launch of the Lexus brand in 2006. After a brief stint in the regional marketing function with Shell Malaysia and realising his passion for the motor industry, he rejoined the Lexus brand function with Toyota Motor Asia Pacific. Giri is married with a year old son and enjoys travelling, playing golf and listening to rock music. He is an ardent football fan and is a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC.

Goh Wee Kim McCann Worldgroup (Singapore) Creative Director
Wee Kim got into advertising when Batey Ads offered him the first break into the industry in 1992. From there, he went on to work at various agencies including Bates, DDB, Leo Burnett, BBDO and McCann. He moved to BBDO Singapore as Head of Art in 2005. And was promoted to Associate Creative Director the following year. In 2007, He joined McCann Erickson Singapore as an Associate Creative Director. He was promoted to Creative Director in 2008.

In 2007, Wee Kim Co-Chaired the Crowbar Student Awards, which recognizes some of the best works of students from around the region. He was invited to be a judge in CCA 2007 and ADFEST 2008. Wee Kim believes in grooming the next generation of creative people, he teaches in the IAS portfolio school. Thanks to his Earth Monkey Chinese zodiac sign, Wee Kim has had a bit of luck at the awards. He has had success at every major regional and international show. His haul includes Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at Cannes. It also included the Outdoor Grand Prix and Gold medals at the ADFEST. He has also won more than 50 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals at the CCA. In all, his work has been awarded with over 130 medals and accolades at D&AD, The One Show, Communication Arts, AdFest, MEDIA Spikes, Clio, AWARD, World Press Awards and the New York Festival. Wee Kim’s proudest moment was having his Chingay Float design; “Curry Spill” produced in 1990.

Ivan started his career in advertising in 1975. On 1 September 1978, he founded Eureka Advertising, then a one-desk and two-chair operation. Since its inception, Eureka had grown into a well respected and successful home-grown advertising agency. In 1995, Eureka bought a substantial stake in DNC Advertising, then Singapore's largest ad agency. Some two years later, the investment was sold back to their original shareholders. In 1997, Eureka entered into a joint-venture with Publicis Groupe, the fourth largest marketing communications group in the world and Ivan continued to be Chairman & CEO of Publicis Eureka, as it became known. After stepping down in 2002, he continued as its non-executive Chairman and remained a director and shareholder until he sold his remaining stakes in 2005. He currently sits on the Boards of Novena Holdings Ltd as an independent

Jack Lim assumes the role of Vice President, Advertising Sales and Marketing, with effect from 2 January 2008. Jack is charged with driving advertising and sponsorship revenue for SPE Networks – Asia’s four ad-supported channel brands – AXN, Asia’s leading action and adventure channel; AXN BEYOND, the spin-off channel from AXN specialized in sci-fi, fantasy, horror, suspense and paranormal types of programming; ANIMAX, Asia’s premier youth animation channel; and SONY ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION, a trendsetting channel catered for the urban career women. At the same time, Jack will also oversee the areas of research, marketing services, sales operations and new business development. Previously, Jack spent three years at IBM as Communications Director for ASEAN/South Asia. He led a team of over 40 Communications professionals in planning and executing IBM’s global brand and regional communications campaigns across the region. Before IBM, Jack worked at GE from 1997 to 2004, with his last assignment being Market Development Director at GE Corporate. SPE Networks – Asia is not Jack’s first foray into the media industry. Starting his career with Dow Jones & Co., he served as the Advertising Manager for The Asian Wall Street Journal as well as Broadcast Sales Manager for Asia Business News. Thereafter, he assumed the role of Director of International Sales, Asia, in CNBC Asia Pacific. Jack was born in October 1969 in Singapore. Joanna Wong, an advertising and public relations veteran for more than 20 years. Her vast marketing and communications experience spans from consumer lifestyle brands to hospitality and industrial B2B businesses locally and in the SE Asian region. She joined Eu Yan Sang International Ltd in 2000 as the first communications manager for the Group and played a key role to the changed image of this 130-year old traditional Chinese medicine brand. In 2005, together with Neil French, Jim Aitchison, and Linda Locke, he was named Champion Of The Creative Circle, a rare achievement award for his contribution to the advertising industry. In 2007, he was featured in IDEAS (a book on Singapore’s hottest creative directors) and was voted Singapore’s Creative Director of the Year. To date, his work has been awarded in every major international advertising competition, notably the One Show, D&AD, Clio, New York Festival, London International, Communication Arts and Cannes. He has also been invited to judge in many of them, most recently at the 2007 Cannes Advertising Festival. Despite his hectic schedule, Patrick still finds time to share his experiences with students from the AWARD School and the Institute of Advertising. He also sits on the advisory board of Temasek Polytechnic School of Design. When he isn’t creating ads, Pat will most probably be chasing a football. After all, his claim to fame was playing against a British all-star team at the 1995 Singapore International Soccer Sevens, which included Bobby Charlton, Jeff Hurst and Kevin Keegan.

Sebastian entered the market as a fresh-eyed art student. Also a much sought after photographer and director today, Sebastian has been known to be a maverick possessing a unique and effective blend of creativity, fiery passion and foresight. Never giving up his dream of becoming an art director one day, he showed gritty persistence and imagination in his first stint as a photographer’s assistant. Even while he was constantly kept busy by the demands of his job, he honed the skills of the trade from the bottom up. Armed with only a 35mm camera, a couple of lenses and the proceeds from the sale of his car, The Shooting Gallery was born in 1987 out of his necessity to survive. To date, Shooting Gallery Asia is a collective of 15 companies with offices and studios in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, New Zealand, The Maldives and growing. The latest being Artison, a production design business to support and add value to the film-making industry. There’s also an office in Paris to market the group and support work from Europe. Besides being the President of the Professional Photographers Association (Singapore), Sebastian also sits on the advisory panel of Temasek Polytechnic’s School of Design and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ curriculum advisory committee. He is a member of the Singapore Workforce Development Agency’s Media & Communications Manpower Skills & Training Council. With a sprawling 21,000 sq feet headquarters at Brilliant Building, Sebastian has much to be proud of his achievement. But he still remains the same simple and humble visionary, with no airs at all, persuading clients not just with the depth of his views but also the expertise of his direction.

Steve has over 16 years of integrated creative and design experience. He first started out in Wales and later joined the Marketing Store Worldwide, working on promotional, direct marketing and design solutions for Bass Breweries with brands such as Grolsch, and the launch of Carling Premier into the UK market. Steve moved to Singapore in 1996 and has spent the past 12 years in the region. In Singapore, he serviced clients in the entertainment, business, hotel & resort, retail and property sectors, developing marketing collaterals for Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. Raju began his career on the catwalks of Bangalore. Though he was one of the country’s up-and-coming fashion models, he was so enamored by Advertising that he traded in the glamour and applause for long hours and a tiny desk in the corner of DDB Chennai as a Management Trainee. Raju moved on to J. Walter Thompson after three years. At JWT, he rose up the ranks and was made responsible for new business as well as managing current clients. In order to obtain a holistic understanding of the communication business, Raju moved to Rapp Collins Indonesia and ran the agency’s CRM and Direct Marketing functions. He joined Grey in 2001 and over five years, grew the agency by 150%, slotting it into the Top 5. In 2005, Raju was handpicked to take over the helm of Grey Singapore. Mr. Suresh Narayanan joined Nestle Singapore Pte Ltd as its Managing Director effective 1st January 2008. Before the appointment, Mr. Suresh Narayanan served as the Executive Vice President for Sales for Nestle in the South Asia region consisting of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. His stint has involved major structural and strategic changes in the Sales & Customer management organization in Nestle India that witnessed the emergence of a company from low single digit growth to sustained double digit performance outperforming other benchmark MNC’s and Food companies in India.
