Leaving Connecticut – The
Exodus – By: Daniel R. Gaita, MA
Connecticut, A.K.A., The Constitution
State, the once wealthiest State in the
Nation, a vacation country home
destination for New Yorkers and the rest
of the Nations rich and famous. Also a
safe haven from most major natural
disasters. The State that is host to Yale
University. The State that sent four
delegates to sign the Declaration of
Independence. Provided 1,200 troops to
fight in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Spawned flourishing mills, textile
factories, seaports, and fisheries. CT, was also a major player in
supplying Union forces 55,000 men and industry to supply weapons
and supplies during the Civil War. Railroad lines, interurban
transportation trollies, and steamships. Remington, Winchester and
Colt Firearms manufacturers provided half the small-arms cartridges
used by the U.S. Army during WWI. We produced submarines, torpedo
boats and freighters. During WWII, Pratt and Whitney developed
engines for our aircraft and CT was a production center for weaponry
and supplies. CT enjoys four seasons, beachfront coastlines, lakes,
rivers and streams and has also Produced two US Presidents. So why is
everyone leaving? Taxes, Corruption, and Ticks.
1. Taxes – that
dissuade wealth
from the State,
cripple the
middle class,
destroy small
business, and
crush anyone
self-employed.
CT has continued to elect the same “asshats” that promise not to raise
taxes only to put some lipstick on a new revenue program and call it
something different. It’s not, it’s just another name to give a law that is
put into place to extract more money from CT families.
At the Gas station, the hairdresser, the gym, the shoe store, grocery
store, pet store, in your electric and gas bills, your phone, cable and
Internet bills, when you buy a car, fix your car, wash your car, when
you go out to eat, and when you stay home and do nothing…CT has a

tax extraction program for everything that involves your money
entering, leaving or just sitting in your wallet.
Then after you pay Hartford, grab your ankles and get ready for your
Town to take its cut too. It doesn’t matter what you do, non-profits,
charities, and even those visiting from out of State can count on
getting a tax bill from any municipality that thinks you owe them….
Even if the law says you don’t.
2. Corruption – That uses lawyers and judges to obstruct justice
without consequence.
CT corruption is systemic and runs through the Judicial, Executive and
Legislative Branches. Probate courts routinely exploit our elderly and
disabled. Nursing homes that rape Medicare, Lawyers that obstruct
justice in order to maintain their personal wealth. Legislators that
make no effort to change antiquated laws and legal language.
Oversight agencies that routinely deny jurisdiction in order to avoid
getting involved in matters that require enforcement. I’ve witnessed,
and experienced, first hand, the evil and consequences of this
dysfunctional State.
3. Ticks (insects and elected officials) – Leaches that suck the life
and energy from the few residents left chasing the ever more
mysterious and disappearing American Dream.
Yes, we also have Lyme Disease. But that’s treatable. The ticks I am
speaking of are those that remain in office, continually elected in an
utter cycle of insanity. Blatant misinformation laden elected officials
that show up at your Town Meeting to spew off misinformation and cite
“studies” without actually giving you the name of the study…
Legislators whose work ethic is no greater than the Bad News Bears
playing baseball during a rain storm without balls or a bat… An utter
alchemy of ineffectiveness, driven by ignorance, selfish pride, and
jackassery. This crew, here in the CT Legislature takes the cake my
friends. You will be hard pressed to find a more cognitively challenged
group of bumbling tools (or fools).
Integrity – Ooops, sorry. Wrong word for this article.
A near super-majority of self-proclaimed academic elites and socialites,
most that have never served a day in their countries’ defense yet
suffer from the socially crippling condition known as “Cognitive
Dissonance”

If you are an elected Republican in CT, you got about as much of a
chance at impacting legislation as a snowball does traveling through
hell. CT is controlled, run, directed, and being destroyed by a single
group beholden to a repeatedly failed ideology. (It’s “Insanity raised to
the 10th power)
Emotional and politically driven Gun laws that make it easier for
criminals to murder innocent people, and harder for law abiding
citizens to protect themselves? What? , Really? Yes, Seriously. They
actually think a 10 round ammo capacity will stop another massacre
from happening? Seriously, that is actually part of the law.
It gets better…(or worse) They made laws that consider guns with a
pistol grip or flash suppressor an “Assault Weapon” – It’s one bizarre
law after another. I know, crazy, right? Well, not here in CT. Everything
stupid & under the sun is fair game up here in the Nutmeg State. Buyer
Beware.
While I never watched, up close, a U.S. State fail, I have seen nations
fail and have seen the consequences of those failures. It’s never good,
always violent, and very painful to endure. The fiscal issues of CT will,
are, and have been destroying this once great bastion of American
Democracy and “Yankee Ingenuity”. I won’t be sticking around for a
front row seat to this abortion of a performance.
Yes, my friends even I, a life long CT Resident (except while serving in
the Marines) will be making the journey and taking my family, our
charity, and our contributions to a more friendly State.
Since those in the State Capitol don’t give a crap about you. It might
be a good time for you to consider the same…
Life is short, America is big, and CT has lost its damn mind….
