Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it, to the full product?
From my prelims to my final product I believe that I have come a long way in the usage of the technology; I think that I have improved a drastic amount from when we began the course. Looking back at the cover of my first prelim magazine it is very basic, it lacks details, and this is because of my lack of knowledge and experience on Photoshop . I can see where my mistakes were made and it is obvious that this doesn t look professional; I think I was able to learn from these mistakes and improve from my prelim. I have kept most of the conventions the same for example the masthead, cover lines and main image. I kept this because there is lots of evidence in that keeping to all of these conventions helps produce a very successful magazine that appeals to their target audience. The dark different tone of greens on the prelim magazine cover show the neutral feel to the magazine and this alongside with the straight face of the model was supposed to complement each other, in the end I had to edit the lighting so the picture fit the colour palette well enough. I completely changed the colour scheme of my final magazine as I researched what would fit my genre the best and played to this strength . I should ve taken into consideration what my target audience would ve liked to have seen colour scheme wise before my prelim as it would have increased the aesthetics of the magazine cover. When it comes to the cover lines I am incredibly pleased with the improvement, as the ones on my prelim were both unrealistic and look unprofessional . These appear on my final product as the progression stages from my prelim to my final piece gave me the chance to learn and identify features that the majority of the time features on the front of a maga zine. The fonts are more relevant to the genre of the magazine as well, the fonts in the prelim are not relevant to any genre but on my final they represent the rock and roll genre . I believe that my organisation and timing were kept well and I was on top of them throughout the course. My time management could have been improved upon and this would have helped me in the production of my magazine as I could have spread my time out more evenly. I have learnt that planning is an essential part of the production process as without planning you will have to just throw stuff t ogether and hope for the best. I had to plan all of my work and I am most pleased about the planning of my photo shoot and editing as I gave myself enough time to pick out a model that suited the genre perfectly and enough time to edit her. In conclusion t he steps taken from my prelim magazine to my final magazine have been big; I have increased in confidence and ability on the programs and am proud of my final product. Although I still have kept to the main convention and I feel this has helped me in the long run. I have been inspired from Rolling Stone magazine and other personal influences, I feel that this has overall made my magazine look very
