Magazine Article Draft: The Saints.
What The Saints have achieved in the last twelve months most musicians don’t manage in a lifetime, having four acclaimed EPs, a top 40 single and new album coming 2nd, supporting Kings of Leon and Artic Monkeys as well as having their own American tour. It makes you think what the indie/alternative four-piece band dream about because it all seems to be happening for them in reality. But now to make reality even more dream like Will Jones does a world exclusive interview with ALT magazine for the first time. How have these last 12 months affected you and The Saints? “These last 12 months have been unexplainable, we have been through everything we could have dream of having but just in our first twelve months of being famous. If anything it has made us as a group stronger and closer, we have literally been everywhere and done everything together and surprisingly at our own will.” he laughs, “But there is nothing I would change about these twelve months, they have made us who we are and who we are going to be as a band” What made you interested in making and selling your own music? “Every day since day one making music was my entire life, id never wanted to done anything else in my life and that’s potentially to do with the creative environment I was brought up in. Both my parents loved making music, singing and experimenting, we used to spend most our nights together being creative with sound, paint, objects anything we could find. I don’t think id being doing what I’m doing now if it wasn’t for the way I was brought up and with the parents I had, I’m so crateful for that.” How did The Saints all start? “Well we all met in our early teens at high school, we become friends and were all interested in music so we were made to create music together. We were playing little gigs around Manchester changing our band name all the time, until a girl in the crowd at one of these gigs shouted ‘YOU SAINTS’ and then from that we all decided on The Saints and it was the only name we made up that worked and stuck. That’s one of my favorite story to tell about us.” What has your first American tour been like for The Saints? “Well for starters we have never been on tour before and I will tell you now having your first tour in American we will defiantly be going on more tours else where. I have never seen so many girls in one place before, screaming my name and showing so much skin,” He says giggling to himself, “ but I have never been so tired in my life yet on a high all the time, it was emotional crazy, I should have really gone to have since I doctor since being back,” he laughs. What does this new album mean to you guys? “This new album is what has made us bigger than we thought was possible, we realist it and it went world wide, the sales it made was incredible, if we never made it we would never be as big as we are now. I personally love this album as well, we put so much hard work and time into making it, and every song is personal and important to this album.” Why have you called this album Settle Down? “Well there is a reason and its pretty simply to be honest, it’s a chilled album and it makes you want to settle down, so we called it settle down. Listening to this album makes you chill out, calm down and settle down. I think its well random but its better than nothing,” he says while laughing “my only idea was nothing so

thank god we have Jack in our group who comes up with most of our song names”. How did we feel supporting acts kings of Leon and Artic Monkeys? “That was crazy, the two of my most favorite bands that I listen to myself when I’m not listening to me own songs” he says while laughing at himself “I know this sounds gimpy but I am their biggest fans and to be supporting them at some of their gigs was like more than a dream come true. We even got to hang with them afterwards, which was mental, I will tell you now they all know how to host a party” he says grinning to himself “best memory of being in this business, couldn’t image supporting anyone else better, so grateful, so grateful.” What’s next for you guys? “Well after this interview it defiantly couldn’t get any better now, this has been my high light” he says laughing “don’t know about the boys but everything that happens to us is a surprise and shock so I wouldn’t jinx a thing.”
