To serve selflessly is a sure way to become an admired leader. Police Chief Nick Matteo is this type of leader, according to Mayor Randy Brown. Matteo’s retirement from Evesham Township earned him a proclamation at the council meeting on Dec. 3, where Brown explained why leaders seek out people such as Matteo to be part of their team. DECEMBER 11–17, 2013 – THE MARLTON SUN

Giving Tree collecting toys for kids Make the holiday brighter for local children by participating in Project Giving Tree at the YMCA of Burlington and Camden Counties, a cause-driven nonprofit charitable organization. Through Project Giving Tree, the Y strives to build hope and wonder for children by providing gifts to deserving children whose families face financial hardship. The Giving Trees are decorated with tags identifying a child's name, age, clothing size and other items they would like from Santa. The community is encouraged to stop by the Y and select one or

more tags from the Tree now through Thursday, Dec. 12 and help make a child feel like a star this holiday season. Individuals and organizations are asked to return the star(s) with the wrapped gifts to the Y by Friday, Dec. 13. Giving Trees are displayed at the Mt. Laurel YMCA located at 59 Centerton Road in Mt. Laurel and the Burlington-Riverfront YMCA at 302 Commerce Square Boulevard in Burlington. For more information on how to participate in Project Giving Tree, contact Pam Hall at the Mt.
