Liberal Leadership Training on Globalization
Lawrence Villamar
participant

Participant's Name: Lawrence Villamar E-mail Address: [email protected] Country: philippines Current Occupation: student Educational Attainment: 3rd Year C ollege Political and NGO Background: I'm an active member of Kabataang Liberal ng Pilinas (KALIPI-PUP) C hapter in my university. recently, I serve as a paralegal for Kilos! PUP Party in our campus student council election. How did you know about the Friedrich Naumann Foundation? they put up an ad back in school, and I was encouragaed to join by our adviser in KILOS! PUp C ommunications C ommittee. Hobbies: I enjoy reading novels (and everything I can get my hand on). I do enjoy watching movies, and talking about (I recently caught The C onstant Gardener on HBO and Blood Diamond on dvd). I enjoy public speaking, doing some hosting job (like what I did for Kilos1 PUP in the campaign), debating, and teaching about it. I'm a bit of a writer too (admire hemingway, and Steinbeck). basically just thinking and talking are my hobbies. Who is your role model and why? a role model for me is like a great artist that steps back from his art, and let his art's granduer unfold by giving it space, to bloom and spread beauty, to fill the darkness with its light. A role model for me is a person that mirrors one or two of our best qualities, but it does not have an image. You see your face in him, that leads you to want, to belive that you too can, whatever greatness he has achieve. C oz, role models are not there to make you feel bad about yourself, like "hey! I'm great, and your not." they're not there to provide contrast, but rather they exist to instill a belief that there's this person in you that can be "me" if you only let it be. What is your personal interest in Globalization? Globalization, without taking the word, global from it, has become a very intimate and personal topic for each of us... and it's this intimacy (I see its effecr everywhere) and yet the strangeness of it, leads me to inquire, to know...and attempt to find the truth.

What else do you think should we know about you? I easily clam up with personal matters, so don't ask me who's my crush is. I might giggle... ha ha ha. And I laugh easily, and I don't alwaysneed a reason to smile... (well, at least..no big reason my smile requires)
