arge educational institution converted 68,200 square-feet of retail space at the base of their newly acquired apartment complex into a unique new 325 seat dining hall. In addition, the team installed grease duct systems for the large capacity kitchen through an occupied dormitory building in existing chases, which were already crowded with ductwork, piping and electrical systems. The Solution Precise pre-planning and the development of detailed and well-coordinated shop drawings allowed much of the piping, plumbing and grease duct to be fabricated and assembled
in the McKenney’s shops, thus relieving some of the site and schedule challenges. Experienced field crews were able to accommodate difficult work situations and maintain the project schedule while working around existing occupants during construction. The Results McKenney’s successfully supported the space conversion to a LEED® gold certified dining hall on schedule and on budget.
