Logists get their technicians to tape a row of metallic pellets over the skin scar for identification on mammography; however, this author prefers a simple diagrammatic notation on the x-ray clinical questionnaeire. Most excisional scars can be easily differentiated from carcinoma by correlation with biopsy site, lack of change from a previous mammogram, absence of an associated mass, the retention of two-dimentional appearance when viewed in two orthogonal projection, or central lucency from fat necrosis.
