Personal health 1. Teeth
Functions/roles:
Chewing food Teeth are a part of the digestive system. They are used for chewing food. Pronunciation and articulation Pronunciation is basically controlled by vocal cord, but it needs to work with the teeth to pronounce different sounds accurately. Keep pleasant appearance Teeth can keep our facial profile. Without teeth, our face will look collapsed. If teeth are kept healthy, our appearance will even be better. mastication, and mix it with saliva. The digestive functions of the mouth include:
    

Chewing, grinding, and mixing of food Formation of a bolus Initiation of digestive processes Swallowing Taste

Second, the mouth is a passageway between the pharynx (the cavity connecting the nose, mouth, and larynx) and the outside of the body. It can thus be used for breathing when the nose is inadequate, as happens, for instance, during strenuous exercise. Third, the mouth plays a vital part in speech (see voice), because alterations in the shape of the mouth and the lips modify the sounds that are made by the vocal folds (vocal cords) in such a way that they become recognizable as syllables.

Proper Caring:
      

Brush your teeth three times a day Floss once a day Make regular visits to your dentist for a checkup and cleaning Eat a well-balanced diet Don’t use tobacco products Cleaning Your Teeth and Gums Change your toothbrush every 3 months

Functions/ roles:
First, the mouth is the place where food is taken in and where digestion begins (see digestive system). The mouth is adapted to receive food by ingestion, break it into small particles by

It is essential to rinse our mouth after every meal and credit goes to the ones who make an effort to brush their teeth after every meal. This will prevent tooth decay and diseases that affect the gum by removing the bacteria. It is not always possible for the brush to reach every nook and corner of the mouth. Nothing would better help than using toothpaste that contains fluoride. Use an antiseptic mouthwash. Bid adieu to smoking. You take up the risk of getting throat cancers and gum diseases. Too much of alcohol too causes oral and throat cancers. And if there is the consumption of alcohol and tobacco together, there is no chance of escaping cancer.

3. Tongue
Functions/roles:
The tongue has three main functions. First, it carries on its surface the taste buds which send information to the brain about the nature of the food being eaten. It seems likely that the sensation of taste is not merely to make eating a pleasure, but also to act as a protective mechanism designed to cause the rejection of noxious (harmful) foods. Secondly, the tongue plays an important part in the process of digestion. It enables the food to be moved about the mouth and to be placed in a position where it can most effectively be ground down by the molars. When the contents of the mouth are ready to be swallowed, the tongue forms them into a ball, or bolus, which is moved toward the pharynx at the beginning of swallowing. Finally, the tongue is concerned in speech. By assuming different positions in the mouth it alters the shape of the air passage through which pass the sounds made by the vocal cords. For example, if in the middle of saying "a ... a ...ah" the tip of the tongue is placed behind the upper teeth the sound immediately changes to "l".

Functions/roles:
   Form an insulating coat on the body. Trap a layer of still air just outside the skin, and thereby reduce loss of heat by radiation. Absorb harmful radiations from the sun. Keep out coarse dust particles, as in eyelashes, hair in the nasal chambers and ear canals. Eyebrows prevent water or perspiration from falling into eyes, due to their particular direction. Auxiliary and pubic hair lessens friction between limbs and body, and between limbs during locomotion. Auxiliary hair provides large surface area for evaporation of sweat. Beautify the body (otherwise why people do not shave off their hair from the head completely; bald men are desperate and would pay any price to get back hair on their heads). Beard and moustaches are for differentiation of sex. Mostly males are decorated in nature, e.g. lion, peacock and other birds, deer, etc. Protect from sun and rain. Prevent water from entering into skin. Impart color to body. Vibrissae are sensory hair, tactile in nature and useful in dark burrows. Defend the body in danger, by standing on their ends, thereby making the body look bigger. Help to disguise by blending with the color of the surroundings, to escape the watchful eyes of natural enemies.

Proper Caring:
 Brush it like you brush your teeth.  Do not put pierce on it.

Proper Caring:
1. Do not shampoo on a daily basis. You should shampoo every other day or even every third day. You can always fresh your hair by sprit zing roots with water and restyling with a blow dryer.

4. Hair

2. Avoid fastening your ponytail in the same spot in order to minimize damage. You need to alternate the fastening point every day. 3. Do not comb wet hair from roots to ends. Tugging your hair from scalp to tips can lead to breakage. Begin to comb at ends and work up in sections. 4. Stop brushing your hair for shine. This can cause breakage. All you need is a few strokes to style your hair. 5. Do not blow-dry wet hair. This will make your hair difficult to style as well as cause heat damage. Only apply a blow dryer on damp hair for 20 minutes, maximum. Do not overlook this advice. 6. Massage your scalp with your fingertips. This will stimulate blood flow and help grow healthy hair. 7. Use proper brush. In general, the longer your hair, the larger in diameter your brush needs to be. 8. Use hair spray. Use just enough to hold your style. 9. Do not mask dandruff; treat it. Use a shampoo with salicylic acid, zinc, selenium sulfide or tar to get rid of flakes.
