Watching Daddy Go We all live n learn from those we copy or follow It is natural boys follow Father n girls follow Mother Those with half or no parents would seem to feel hollow The lucky of these perhaps a sibling a sister or brother Some may be smart reading from Shakespeare’s Macbeth Others whom sense is that of adventure like Huckleberry Finn Is it not ironic the so called wiser of the two cannot escape death Like a dirt road we are just dust—place a mailbox n let life begin When we are children we imagine being the king imagination so bliss We all look up to a sister n brother or our parents anyone to learn from Then the fun stops as we learn to our terror grandpa had left without a kiss We get dressed up n go where the box goes in the ground all the family come One thing we all copy is we live, we love, we share, we care, we cry n we die Of course we do laugh until we learn it will one day be our turn this we know No matter how smart we may think we are love is the answer till we kiss goodbye Love is our friend our family, love is grandpas kiss we feel “Watching Daddy Go.” ©2010 I.M.
