Point-to-Point Communication Mode Point-to-point communication connects two fixed points, the sending device and the receiving device. This helps to keep data secure, as others cannot hear the signal, e.g. a telephone conversation. Pointto-point protocol (PPP), also known as Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP) and dial-in direct connection, is a protocol used to establish network-protocol-supporting links over telephone lines using modems. Protocol is a set of rules and procedures controlling the transmission and reception of data so that different devices or computers and communicate with each other. Point-to-point protocol is the most common method used by individual users to access the Internet. Point-to-point protocol (PPP) enables users to dial into a local Internet service provider to connect securely to their corporate network through the Internet. PPP link enables you to import and export files directly between your computer and another. This is particularly useful for people who work from home or people who travel and need to access their corporate networks remotely, for example, to check e-mail.
