ETHICS: Definition • “ The practice of making principled choices between right and wrong”. • “Explicitly reflecting on moral beliefs and practices”.

Ethics: Meaning The basic concepts and fundamental principles of decent human conduct. It includes study of universal values such as the essential equality of all men and women, human or natural rights, obedience to the law of land, concern for health and safety and, increasingly, also for the natural environment. WHY STUDY SPORT ETHICS? • Fair play is violated when players engage in poor sporting behaviour such as heckling and using offensive language or by losing self-control through tantrums, bragging, bullying etc.

SPORTMANSHIP AND ITS VALUES • Sportsmanship is a matter of being good and doing right in sports. • Sportsmanship looks like . • Playing fair . • Respecting the judgments of officials. • Treating opponents with respect.

MAJOR ISSUES IN SPORT • Coaches having inappropriate relationships with players. • Athletes purchasing steroids and selling them to teammates. • Corrupt officials fixing competitions.

Role Of Government Support those organizations and individuals who have demonstrated sound ethical principles in their work with sport. Encourage the education profession to include the promotion of sport and fair play as a central part of the physical education curriculum.

CONCLUSION  The conclusion drawn from this report is that, Participation is more important than victory.  Ethics is an integral part of sport, Win with dignity and lose with dignity.
