is the amount
of force acting per unit
area. The symbol of
pressure is p.
Formula ,
P=F/A
Unit=pascal
There are two types of
pressure
1. LIQUID PRESSURE
2. ATMOSPHERIC
PRESSURE
LIQUID PRESSURE
Liquid
pressure is the increase in
pressure at increasing depth in a
liquid .This pressure increases
because the liquid at the lower
depths has to support all of the
water above it.
Liquid pressure=mass *
acceleration
due to density * depth
in liquid
If there is a hole in the
containers surface then liquid
will initially flow our
perpendicular to the surface.
ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE
Atmospheric pressure is defined as the
force per unit area exerted against a
surface by the weight of the air above
that surface.
Atmospheric pressure is used
in many of the things , for
example
When we drink water with a straw, while
sucking our lungs expand and air in the drinking
straw goes into them . The air pressure in the
straw decreases and the atmospheric pressure
acting on the surface of water . Then forces the
water to move up inside the straw and into our
mouth.
