Primary research = audience
From my own questionnaires and from research into current popular websites that match my demographic, I have found that music streaming is important to my target audience and so in money saving advice. This shows that my target audience is students age 14 – 21. My target audience like brands Sony and Bose, Bose are speaker and Sony are hosting a tour which means that people who are into that specific music tour are more likely to buy Sony products. O2 is also giving out free tickets so they are a main advertising point of popular music websites. YouTube seems to be one of the most popular websites at the moment especially amongst my demographic as the most as all of their favourite songs are on YouTube and the websites of their favourite magazine, Kerrang! For example. Most people buy music magazines every once in a while, like if they see their favourite band on the cover but a small few have a subscription. Everyone in my questionnaire has been to a gig but some more often than others. For example some people travel across England to follow their band for a week where as other just go for a gig that’s in Norwich/ general area. All people from my questionnaire have bought music before and some of them buy all their music from iTunes or pay for a subscription from streaming sites, but most of them just download from the internet when they are after songs they want. When looking for a magazine people seemed to be drawn to the images of their favourite bands on the cover and would only buy music magazines if the cover art (or text) involved the bands they like. They also seemed to look at the famous magazines no matter what and ignore the magazines that don’t quite have the same reputation for example of a magazine like Kerrang! Or NME. Once into a music magazine my audience seem to want what is currently going on with their favourite bands and when and where their next gigs are so they can get to one. People in my target audience enjoy gigs so they would like to be up to date on their favourite bands timetables.
