To install (add) a local printer 1. Open Devices and Printers by clicking the Start button , and then, on t he Start menu, clicking Devices and Printers. 2. 3. Click Add a printer. In the Add Printer wizard, click Add a local printer.
4. On the Choose a printer port page, make sure that the Use an existing po rt button and the recommended printer port are selected, and then click Next. 5. On the Install the printer driver page, select the printer manufacturer and model, and then click Next. o If your printer isn't listed, click Windows Update, and then wait while Windows checks for additional drivers. o If none are available and you have the installation CD, click Have Disk, and then browse to the folder where the printer driver is located. (For additio nal help, consult the printer manual.) 6. Complete the additional steps in the wizard, and then click Finish.
During the initial installation of Windows 7, not all available printer drivers are listed. Clicking the Windows Update button will cause the operating system t o query Microsoft's servers and download the remaining available drivers. See be low to learn how to update the printer list using Windows Update. Note: For USB and Parallel users, connect the interface cable to the Brother dev ice while your PC is connected to the internet and the operating system will aut omatically download and install the drivers for your device. For USB users only: The Scanner driver will be installed for machines with scanner functionality. 1. 2. Open the Printers folder. Click START -> Devices and Printers Click ADD A PRINTER
3. When the ADD PRINTER WIZARD appears, click on Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer 4. Select your Brother printer from the list and click NEXT
5. When the Install Printer Driver screen appears, click Windows Update. Th is will take a few minutes to contact the Microsoft server and download the addi tional drivers. 6. Once the drivers list has been updated, please select your Brother print er from the list and click NEXT. 7. Click NEXT to accept the default name of the printer.
8. You will be asked if you want to print a test page and set the printer a s the default printer. Select YES or NO. Click FINISH.
