Colleges
All QU Colleges offer Academic Programs that confer upon students who successfully meets graduation requirements the B. A Degree in the respective discipline. The University adopts the credit hour system and a twosemester academic year namely "the Fall and The Spring" in addition to an optional intensive Summer one. QU is an ever developing educational institution that always launches and upgrades its programs to meet the demand of the labor market and to remain in alignment with global developments in the field of higher education. Each College lays down its own strategic plans and goals that ensure effective communication and interaction with external stakeholders in both the public and the private sectors. Before moving into their respective majors, students will have to successfully pass the Foundation Program which aims to refine, develop, and build up students' skills in English, Math, and Computer.
College of Education:
In addition to a multitude of diversified functions and roles, the College seeks to prepare highly qualified education professionals, well equipped with stateoftheart skills and knowledge, that line up with today's requirements and future challenges. Besides its world class quality, the College undoubtedly prepares and provides for an environment that stimulates and promotes knowledge, learning, development and innovation through well established and selected academic, training, consultative, and research programs.
College of Arts & Sciences (CAS):
Emanating from the fact that the College is QU's biggest in terms of student body, faculty, and programs, it offers a variety of cultural and academic courses in addition to education programs enriched with scientific and literary knowledge. Moreover, the College equips its students with research skills that empower them to professionally carry out different functions in the fashion that serves many community sectors.
College of Sharee'a & Islamic Studies:
To promote the slogan" Towards establishing a remarkable Islamic and cultural environment" The College offers academic programs that meet and respond to the needs of Qatar and Islamic Community. Hence, the programs feature education quality, scholarly endeavors, and community service as a means to prepare graduates capable to demonstrate constructive critical thinking.
College of Engineering:
The college seeks to educate and graduate engineers who are professionally ready to engage in the engineering business in different sectors and to take part in scholarly endeavors. Offered programs have been designed to meet the needs of the labor market and the Country at large. Today, law studies touch upon all facets of life that require systems and legislations to organize and regulate individuals' rights and duties and increase law awareness in the community. With this in mind, the ِ College offers a B.A. innovative program which uniquely integrates law knowledge and awareness together with practice and field skills.
College of Pharmacy:
th Never has there been a better time to consider a rewarding career in pharmacy. The 7 and newest college on campus delivers a North Americanbased curriculum and currently offers a BSc (Pharm) degree to female students. The college will also offer a Doctor of Pharmacy degree by 2011.The college expects to be the first international program accredited by the Canadian pharmacy accreditation agency in February 2009.
The mission of this new college is to prepare students to provide optimal pharmaceutical care and advance health care outcomes, to promote research and scholarly activity, and to serve as a pharmacy resource for Qatar, the Middle East and the world.
General Conditions of Admission
FullTime Students Fulltime students are those who are expected to maintain a minimum load of 12 credit hours per semester. PartTime Students Parttime students are those who are expected to maintain a maximum load of 11 credit hours per semester. Additionally, all regular parttime students must pay the required tuition fees prescribed by QU. Parttime status may be granted to a student with special community and family circumstances following a review of his/her academic profile. · Parttime status can be changed to fulltime status upon the student's request and upon the recommendation of his/her academic advisor.

Transfer to QU from Another University
Conditions of transfer from another university to Qatar University (Morning Program or Parallel Program) A student may transfer to QU if s/he meets the following conditions: a) Student should hold the Secondary Education Certificate or its equivalent with the averages set by the Admission System at Qatar University in the same year of transfer. b) Student has not been dismissed for disciplinary reasons from the university from which he is transferred. If, after the student has been transferred, it is disclosed that he was dismissed for disciplinary reasons, his registration is annulled from the date of acceptance of his transfer. c) Student should have successfully completed two terms or their equivalent at an accredited university and has obtained a cumulative average with grade “good” at least. d) Student should submit his application for transfer by the date set for admission and before the start of the term to which he plans to transfer to it. e) The Admissions Committee will study the cases of applications for transfer and, if approved, the opinion of academic departments on the assessment of the courses studied with grade “2.504.00” at the university from which he is transferred. f) A number of courses studied at other universities not exceeding 50% of the total number of acquired hours are credited to the transferred student’s total of credit hours required for awarding a Bachelor’s degree with grade “good”. The course is included in the study plan but is excluded from the calculation of the student’s cumulative average at Qatar University. g) Courses studied at other universities are not credited in the Foundation Program to the transferred student. Instead, he should take tests to assess his level, but Academic Bridge students are exempted from such test
Admission to the Undergraduate Program
Qatar University will consider applicants who have graduated from various secondary and high school systems, including the following: Qatari Secondary School Certificate A student's performance in grades 11 and 12 is taken into consideration. The student is required to submit official documents showing his/her grades in all subjects taken in grades 11 and 12. A minimum weighted average score of 70% is required for admission consideration to Qatar University. International Baccalaureate (IB) 1. The applicant should complete 12 years of school.

2. The applicant should complete 6 subjects with a minimum of three (3) subjects at the higher level. 3. A minimum combined score total of 24 is required with a minimum subject score of 4. 4. Some Majors (such as Engineering and the Sciences) may require subjects as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, etc. 5. Grades of CAS, TOK, EE are not considered in the grade calculation.
English System (IGCSE, GCSE, GCE)
1. The applicant should complete 12 years of schooling. 2. The applicant should complete minimum 7 subjects with at least 2 subjects at higher level (AS or A level). 3. Only grades from courses classified as academic subjects will be used for admission consideration. 4. A minimum score of 70 percent is required for consideration. The percentage should be 70% and more.
American System (Advance Placement)
1. The applicant should complete 12 years of school. 2. The applicant should have earned a High School Diploma in a General Studies curriculum with a minimum average of “C” or a minimum GPA of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. 3. Completed the Advanced Placement (AP) program with a satisfactory (C) grade average. 4. Passed at least six different subjects, one of which must be in the Sciences (Biology, Physics, Chemistry), one in Mathematics (Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry), and one in Humanities or Social Sciences during either the junior or senior year. A minimum score of “C” or its equivalent is required in two Science subjects for those applying to programs requiring a science track certificate.
Admission to the Foundation Program
The Foundation Program focuses on improving the basic skill levels of the student in English, Mathematics, and computer literacy. For a student to advance beyond the Foundation Program, he/she must achieve a specific level of mastery in each of these subject areas. All applicants admitted to Qatar University will be placed into the Foundation Program. The student’s level of placement in the Foundation Program is determined by his/her placement scores.

Minimum Admission Requirements by College
Admission to Qatar University is competitive and satisfying the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission. The following criteria are considered by the University during the admission process: high school grades and the strength of courses taken, standardized test scores, how the applicant compares to the overall applicant pool, and the number of seats available in each College. While the University makes every effort to admit eligible applicants into their first choice program, students may be placed into their second or third choice academic programs.

General Admissions Requirements
Only applicants who satisfy Qatar University’s minimum admission requirements will be considered for admission. Admission requirements are based on a number of academic and personal qualifications that will ensure students’ success during their course of study. The following admission materials are required for admission consideration to Qatar University: 1. Completed university application form signed by the student. The form is available online on http://www.qu.edu.qa/admissions . 2. A certified copy of the General Secondary Education Certificate for graduates in the State of Qatar 3. Original of the educational certificate from outside the State of Qatar certified by the issuing authority as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the State of Qatar in the country of the issuing authority 4. The Foundation Program
The mission of the Foundation Program is to prepare and equip high schools graduates with English, Mathematics, and Computer skills that help and qualify them for admission and move to their respective colleges and programs. Foundation Program Courses Foundation students will study English, Mathematics and Computer. All Foundation courses are noncredit hours. English and Computer courses are standard for all Foundation students despite their specializations while Mathematics courses differ according to students’ specialization. Second: Partial Exemption Student may be partially exempted from Foundation Courses if he/she is exempted from one or two Foundation subjects ( English, Mathematics & Computer). Third: Completion of Foundation Program: 1. A Foundation student will successfully complete the Foundation Program as soon as he/she meets all the above mentioned complete exemption conditions within a period not exceeding four academic semesters. 2. A Foundation student shall move to his/her respective college on successful completion of all Foundation program courses and obtaining an institutional TOEFL score of 450 or above except Engineering, Pharmacy Program & Biomedical students who must obtain TOEFL score of 500 or above. QU Scholarships for the Islamic World and Other Countries: QU offers scholarships to students from the Islamic World and other counties excluding GCC Countries. The scholarships are of two categories: internal for students who reside in Qatar with their families, and accordingly, they are not entitled for QU housing or air

tickets; and external for students coming to pursue their university education in Qatar under QU sponsorship. Such students are entitled for QU housing and air tickets to their origin countries. 1. GCC Countries: Scholarships are offered to nationals of the GCC Countries who obtained their Secondary Education Certificate form their respective countries or from any other countries excluding Qatar. A number of scholarships are usually allotted to those countries in coordination with their respective embassies in Qatar. 2. GCC Nationals: Scholarships are offered to nationals from GCC Countries who hold Qatari Secondary Education Certificate and to sons of women from GCC Countries married to Qatari nationals. 3. Sons of Qatari Women: Scholarships are offered to sons of Qatari women married to men who are not Qatari nationals 4. Qatar Residents: Scholarships are offered to students who have Qatari Temporary ID. 7. QU Staff Sons of QU Staff are eligible for QU scholarships. 8. Board of Regents: QU offers a number of scholarships to students nominated by members of the Board of Regents. 9. Academic Distinction: Scholarships are offered to QU students who pay study fees and demonstrate high and distinguished academic performance. 10. The Emiri Diwan: Scholarships are offered to students nominated by the Emiri Diwan. 11. Shortterm Scholarships: Scholarships under this category are offered to students enrolled in the Arabic Program for non native speakers nominated by Department of Arabic Language of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS).

QU offers housing facility to students against monthly fees amounting to QR.800. Qatari students enrolled in the Parallel Program and scholarship students are exempted from paying the aforementioned fees. Students residing in that housing facility enjoy other relevant services such as transportation to and from Campus, food, laundry, Internet access, library, games, and computer lab.
Student Fund:
QU provides financial aid to needy Qatari students in accordance with established criteria set by the University. The aid is offered round the year and continues till the student finishes their course of his University education. Needy nonQatari students may receive a financial assistance in the form of settlement of study fees or monthly aid or a net amount paid cash to the student.
Special Needs Center:
Decision for establishing Special Needs Center came in line with the Reform Plans which QU embarks on at the present time. The Center is expected to offer equal and fair education opportunities to students with special needs who hopefully will benefit from programs, activities, and services offered by QU.
Student Helpdesk:
QU is quite keen to offer quality services to its students, and to this end, the Office has been established at the Student Affairs to help students in whatever concerns or queries they may have or encounter in terms of registration, Add & Drop Process, and University fees.
Online Registration and Services:
Enrolled students are given a username and a password to access the eservices offered by the University which uses the email service to communicate with students on issues of concern.
Medical Clinic:
The Clinic offers free primary healthcare on daily basis from 7:00 am to 8: 00 pm to all University community. Services include first aide, medical treatment, medical check, and medicine.

QU Library:
The Library plays a vital role in enhancing innovation and creativity in education and research endeavors. Its collections include more than 460,000. printed materials ranging from books to references, journals, periodicals and other electronic resources in addition to a computer network that helps student search and allocate the material they need.
Student Counseling Center:
Students who have or face family, social, or psychological problems might find the proper assistance and solution in this Center. QU coordinates and consults with experts in the said fields either locally or externally to help students come over problems of the like.
Career Services Center:
The Center offers students a wide range of services including, but not limited to, field training and allocation of employment opportunities through training students on how to write CVs, attend an interview, and other relevant requirements. Moreover the Office offers counseling services in terms of choosing a study major that is required in the labor market.
Learning Resources Center
QU offers students who need additional or special assistance further services in order to help them advance better in their academic performance. The Center, in collaboration with respective academic Departments develops students' skills in terms of memorization, achievement, and time management …..etc.
Laptop to Every Student:
QU provides a Laptop to every student as soon as s/he joins the University. The set is carefully selected and technically supported to meet student's academic requirements.
Student Activities:
QU encourages students to engage in noncurricular and concurrent activities which definitely play a vital role in developing and building up student's skills and personality. Student Activities Dept. comprises a range of units and divisions that support and promote student's social, cultural, religious, artistic, and sports activities.
Student Clubs:
Student Clubs have been launched in alignment with QU policies that aim to promote student role in the process of decision making, free expression, and creative endeavors. This step will have a great impact on building up student character, enhancing relations existing between student, college, and QU community on one hand, and the outside 19

community mainly with the labor market in particular. Each College encompasses a student club in which all college students enjoy membership simultaneously and has the right to candidacy and voting. Other special clubs formed and managed by student of specific interests also function in the University such as Creativity Club and Qatari Student Network Club.
