Admittedly certainly the rats have for annoying practice To leave the ships in perdition But what else to do Especially since most often it is either the excessiveness of the oceans With their disproportionate waves Either the avarice of the ship-owners who continue to make sail obsolete cargo liners Which long since should have been disarmed Which is responsible for the disaster and not the rat people Admittedly yes the rats have for annoying practice To give asylum to the fleas carry rabies But what else to do And tell me who is responsible for the multiplication of the aforesaid fleas If this is not the deplorable attitude of men not to be concerned with their dejections And secondly how long has there been more of plague in Europe Certainly admittedly rats are annoying habit To gnaw everything to gnaw even more But what else to do To cut one's teeth when nature makes you tiny rodents Yes admittedly rats are annoying habit to Multiply when the cats are not there But what else to do If men are crazy enough To eliminate this enemy without mercy from the rat people Certainly yes rats are annoying habit Emerge under your feet all of a sudden Causing great fear among the human race Especially Women But what else to do Because they have by this speed of execution Especially the desire to escape the danger of these huge feet Which could crush them and elsewhere Do they not flee at full speed also in the greatest of terrors
Certainly certainly the rats find shelter in our attics our cellars our sewers our fields But where to find a better shelter and Do not forget that they rid us of much of our garbage That They make us the largest services in our so-called research laboratories Where they undergo any sort of so-called scientific experiments Such as the implantation of electrodes in the brain To know their reactions to specific stimuli When one does not inoculate them any kind of cancer diseases To find ways to eradicate them Regardless of whether they will benefit from these treatments Therefore I would like to have your support In order to replace this infamous denomination of rat By that more positive of hamster Rodent of the same family With the only notable difference that rats have a long and thin tail Whereas the hamsters have a short and thick tail Or by guinea pig of course bigger and tailless apparent But which serve like our rats of experimental subject in our torture chambers Called Research Laboratory Or why not by that of chinchilla which evokes the sweetness of elegant fur We may also call our rats Rabbits of Broadway or squirrels of night Vocables I admit a bit long Or simply return to the name of vole Smelling sweetly the nature In these times of ecological beneficent Or even human And reserve the term of rat for us That we do not hesitate to use already To designate one or another of our neighbors who do not share our way of life Of which the pejorative connotation Suits us perfectly
