Reasons why you would want to study MBA degree by
Nkwe David Mphela
I would like to study this program because I so much believe that the program will
help in fulfilling my future plans. The modules are well structured. Business plays
integral part in the development of any country and as such contemporary business
acumen is inevitable. The field of business, particularly business administration, is an
anchor to provide innovative and creative way of running corporations, be it large or
small. My everyday activities require thorough understanding of business related
issues, for an example interacting with major stakeholders and partners of the
Department on projects and programmes require solid understanding of business and
that can be achieve through Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program.
This programme will help me in rendering my service to the MEC Office as well
The importance of MBA cannot be left unnoticed, nor shall it be overemphasised. The
programme is of contemporary in nature and surely it easily does under go evolution
like any other disciplines in social sciences. The modules offered integrate easily with
other disciplines, and one can to some an extent say MBA is an eclectic field.
Acknowledging that it has always being there, and under the umbrella of other
discipline like Economics, this discipline or field is growing at an enormous rate. This
is so because its relevancy and independency cannot be ignored any further.
Countries, particularly in Africa have lacked or shown very little progress, because of
incorrect decisions and approaches of understanding socioeconomic issues covered by
the diverse disciplines from human behaviour, organisational behaviour and pure
economic or business decisions. It is documented and even there in literature to say
African countries are rich in natural resources, but because of unclear management of
human capital and lack of compliance to good corporate governance, there
development is not fully realised.
It is important not to confuse the credibility of an institution with the credibility of the
discipline it officers, but be as it may, it is also important to realise that the credibility
of the disciplines are components of the whole and they collectively make the entire
institution creditable. Besides being the only institution that I know that offers the
contemporary and diverse modules such as Finance and Responsible Investment ,

Leadership Development , the Human Factor in Sustainable Organisations, Integrated
Accounting and others , it is in vicinity.
