Studio Profile: Studio Distribution began in New York in 1997 as a means to distribute the German label !K7 Records. It has since evolved into a leading voice in the US's electronic music/DJ culture scene. Today, Studio represents a coalition of over 40 of the world's most highly regarded electronic music labels whose talent includes Kruder and Dorfmeister, Sasha, Thievery Corporation, Tiesto, and Paul Oakenfold. By contributing to a sizable percentage of the quality selection key retailers are able to offer to their record buying public, Studio, thus, has established itself as a key tastemaker for many of the US's most discriminating electronic music buyers. Having secured this central position in the market, Studio has now branched out into different genres such as hip hop and soul. Artists recently added to Studio's roster include DJ Jazzy Jeff, Pete Rock, and Will.i.am (of the Black Eyed Peas). In 2003, Studio will also begin to distribute reggae, world, and indie rock as well as launch its new subsidiary label Spun Records.
