Regenerative Medicine from School of Regenerative Medicine – Manipal University

Regenerative Medicine is a branch of medical science which studies the replacement or regeneration of human cells, tissue and organs, to counter chronic diseases that debilitate organs and hence bodily function. It includes biomedical approaches to clinical therapies that may involve the use of stem cells by injection of stem cells or progenitor cells. MSC in Regenerative Medicine is an interdisciplinary course involving through training in developmental biology, clinical research, tissue engineering, and stem cell biology and equips students to use cutting edge cellular and molecular techniques to understand the field of Regenerative medicine. The course involves practical hands on training in adult stem cell and embryonic stem cell culture and differentiation.

The School of Regenerative Medicine (SORM) strives to add to the research in this branch of medicine by facilitating a group of outstanding scientists to create an exceptional research environment. Through their faculty, curriculum and infrastructure, SORM scholars are encouraged to do some of their best work in basic stem cell biology and for critical advances in the field through ground breaking innovation. Thus, the course work also involves one semester of project work wherein the students pursue research in their specific field of interest in regenerative medicine and stem cells. School of Regenerative Medicine (SORM) was set up in August 2007 to encourage the research in stem cell science. It provides a base where it brings together into a group of outstanding scientists and brilliant infrastructure to create an exceptional research environment. The aim of SORM is to become a leading centre in the world for basic stem cell biology and work for critical advances in the field through a programme of ground breaking innovation. This initiative of Manipal University is to facilitate the cutting edge research technology in Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering into delivering it in a clinical setting, a strategy commonly referred to as a bench to bedside approach. SORM is a branch campus of Manipal University located at Bangalore. Creativity and innovation come together to make SORM a dream come true.SORM is one of the few institutes where stem cell work is being offered as a topic of research. The first institute which is offering a course in regenerative medicine in India. It is doing great work in bringing stem cell therapy to the common man SORM provides the freedom to explore and experiment. The college provides us with excellent opportunity to learn and grow Learning science is not only about understanding basic concepts and theories but about practically applying it to an extent where in one is able to reasonably think and use concepts to deal adequately with the subject .This is where SORM comes into picture ELIGIBILITY
