LAE

Who may apply for admission to the College of Law?

Anyone who has finished or is finishing a four-year bachelor’s degree in the arts or sciences from a Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) recognized college or university, is qualified to take the examination upon prior application, proper
identification and registration.

To qualify for enrollment, an applicant must have earned the following units in his or her undergraduate program:

(Note: A maximum deficiency of nine (9) units is strictly imposed prior to admission.)

An applicant who qualifies for admission must enroll for the academic year in which he or she qualifies, and will not be allowed
to defer admission to another year, or file an application for a leave of absence in his or her first academic year.

When should one apply for admission?

The Office of the College Secretary releases bulletins on the application process for the succeeding academic year. Please visit

What is the U.P. Law Aptitude Examination?

The Law Aptitude Examination (LAE) consists of objective tests designed to measure aptitude for the study of law. The test
subjects include Communication Skills, Reading Comprehension and Vocabulary, Critical Thinking, and Verbal and Quantitative
Reasoning. Passing the LAE is a requirement for admission.

This Information Bulletin is for applicants planning to take the U.P. Law Aptitude Examination (LAE). Passing the LAE is a
requirement for admission to the U.P. College of Law. For Academic Year (AY) 2015-2016, the LAE will be administered on
Sunday, 8 February 2015, in U.P. Diliman, U.P. Cebu and U.P. Davao.

What are the documentary requirements for application?
1.

A duly accomplished registration form.

2.

Proof of payment of the LAE testing fee (see below).

3.

Proof of graduation or senior standing.
a.

Holders of a bachelor’s degree must submit an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS (OTR) and GENERAL
WEIGHTED AVERAGE as computed and certified by the school’s registrar.

b.

Candidates for graduation of a bachelor’s degree must submit a CERTIFICATION from the registrar of the
school where the applicant is enrolled that he or she is a candidate for graduation for the current school
year together with a certified current/up-to-date OTR and GENERAL WEIGHTED AVERAGE and a copy of the
CURRICULUM of the course he/she is graduating in. (N.B. For enrollment in the U.P. College of Law, a
successful applicant must already be a baccalaureate degree holder.)

For applicants who are currently enrolled in another law school, a CERTIFICATION OF GOOD STANDING and OTR. The
said certification must include the fact that the applicant is not disqualified by any reason to re-enroll in the said
school the next school year.

5.

Three (3) identical passport size recent photos (white background).

6.

A self-addressed stamped envelope.

7.

Other requirements as may be imposed by the Admissions Committee.

How much is the LAE testing fee?

For early registrants, the testing fee is P1,500.00. For late registrants, it is P 2,000.00. Applicants with annual gross family
income of P130,000.00 or less are exempted from payment of the testing fee (submit latest original or duly certified Income Tax
Return or a BIR certification that the taxpayer is exempted from filing a Return).

Postal Money order must be payable to the U.P. College of Law (for Regional applicant only). Company and Personal checks are
not accepted. The testing fee is non-refundable.

What are the grounds for disqualification or disapproval of an application?

An application for admission may be disqualified or disapproved on the following grounds:



Concealment, misrepresentation, or falsification of any material fact throughout the application process.



Serious misconduct resulting in disciplinary action (suspension or expulsion, and at any time of the proceeding) in any
of the schools attended.



Disqualification for academic reasons in this or another law school, including probation status.



Conviction of an offense involving moral turpitude.

SAN BEDA
ADMISSION POLICIES
1. Applicants for admission to the College of Law must be Filipino Citizen and should have satisfactorily completed a Bachelor’s
degree in an authorized and recognized college or university and have earned: 18 units of English, 18 units of Social Science, 6
units of Mathematics and 6 units of Filipino.
2. All students entering the College of Law for the first time shall take an entrance examination, which consists mainly of a test
of logic, comprehension, articulation and aptitude for the law profession.
Note: A bachelor’s degree holder who passed the entrance examination but lacks the required number of units in the required
courses may conditionally enter the College of Law, but must satisfy these requirements before admission to Second Year Law.
3. As a matter of policy, the College of Law does not accept transferees from other schools, except in extremely meritorious
cases as may be determined by the Dean.
4. All new students enrolling in the College of Law or reenrolling after an absence of two consecutive semesters are under
academic probation for the entire school year.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRANCE EXAM

ADMISSION PROCESS
1. Submit the requirements to the Admissions Center.

2. Get a receipt from the Accounting Office and pay the application/testing fee of P1,300.00 at the Cashier’s Office.
3. Secure application form and entrance examination permit from the Admissions Center.
4. Take the entrance exam as scheduled.
5. Access SBC website for the results on the release date. Claim the hardcopy of the result from the COL Office of the Guidance
Services (2nd flr., St. Bede’s Bldg. )from Monday to Friday (10:00 am - 12:00 pm to 1:00 - 5:00 pm).
6. Examinees who qualify for admission must reserve their enrolment slots in the amount of P3,000.00. Upon reservation, the
qualified examinees should prepare the following requirements to be submitted during enrolment:

A. Original TRANSCRIPT OF RECORD (TOR) with remarks “For Further Studies” or “For Copy of San Beda College, Manila”)
Note: TOR that does not bear said remarks will not be accepted.
If the school does not issue a TOR with the said remarks, submit:



 CERTIFICATE OF GRADUATION and
CERTIFICATE OF TRANSFER or HONORABLE DISMISSAL

-If the above-mentioned document/s are not yet available, submit:
certification from the Registrar’s Office of the College/University, stating the DATE when the documents/s will be
released or a photocopy of the receipt/s of your request for the document/s.

B. TWO (2) ORIGINAL CERTIFICATES OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER



one from the Dean and one from the Guidance Counselor of school last attended or any two departments authorized
to issue said certificate.

C. BIRTH CERTIFICATE: One (1) original copy and one (1) clear photocopy (Issued by NSO from 2008 – present)
D. Photocopy of MARRIAGE CONTRACT (for married female applicants only)
E. CERTIFICATE OF SPECIAL ORDER (S.O.) from the Registrar of school last attended
Exempted to submit S.O. certificate:



 -graduates of state colleges/universities
-colleges/universities that are included in the roster of private Higher Education Institutions with autonomy or
deregulated status
F. CERTIFICATE OF EMPLOYMENT with SSS No. & TIN (for working students only)
G. LSQT Examinee Report, Admission Result and Enrolment Permit

H. PICTURES
Dean’s office - Three (3) 1 x 1 and Two (2) 1 ½ x 1 ½
Library – One (1) 1 x 1
Clinic – One (1) 1 x 1
I. Validated Reservation Form (to be surrendered to the Accounting office upon payment of tuition fees

UST

Admission Requirements
An applicant for admission must be a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Arts or Sciences or a graduate of any four-year course
and must have earned at least 18 units of English courses, 6 units of Mathematics and 18 units of Social Sciences courses.
The applicant must submit, for purposes of the entrance examination, the following documents:

1. College Transcript of Scholastic Records. However, if the applicant is graduating in March of the current year, an official
copy of transcript containing college records from first year up to the first semester of the fourth year should be submitted;
2. Two (2) current 2 ½ X 2 ½ colored ID pictures;
a. Two (2) Certificates of Good Moral Character bearing the school seal:
b. For UST graduates, one of the certificates should come from the Office of Student Affairs and one from the Dean of the
college;
c. For non-UST graduates, one from the Guidance office or its equivalent and one from the Dean of the college;
3. Applicants who are working must submit an additional Certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the current employer.
4. Photocopy of Birth Certificate (NSO)
5. Application and Testing fee; and
6. Duly accomplished application forms. The forms will be issued by the Dean’s office only upon submission of all the
requirements.
Upon submission of requirements, the applicant shall take the entrance examination administered by the Student Admission
Office. If he passes the written examination, his name shall be included in a list of applicants qualified for an interview. The
schedule for interview shall be posted on the bulletin board of the Faculty of Civil Law. After the interview, the list of those
admitted for enrollment shall be posted on the same bulletin board.
Admission of applicants shall be based on the following factors:
1. the results of the written examination
2. the assessment of the applicant during the interview
3. academic performance in the pre-law program
All admitted applicants are required to submit to the Registrar the following documents before enrollment:
1. Original copy of the official Transcript of Record/s;
2. Original copy of latest Certificate of Graduation bearing the school seal;
3. Honorable Dismissal (for non-UST graduates only);
4. UST Personal Data Sheet (PDS)
Late Registration

The enrollment process begins with the issuance of the Registration Form and ends with the submission of the Dean’s Copy of
such form after payment of school fees.
A student is deemed officially enrolled only upon completion of the entire enrollment process, particularly the encoding of his
payment of fees.
Students who are not officially enrolled shall not be admitted in class.
Late enrollment may be allowed at the discretion of the Dean, but classes missed due to late enrollment shall be marked as
absences.
Transferees
The Faculty of Civil Law may accept transferees from other law school, subject to the discretion of the Dean, and provided
these transferees have outstanding academic records.
Cross Enrollment
No student will be allowed to cross enroll in any law course whether within or outside of UST.
Returning Students
A student who wishes to be readmitted after a leave of absence must file a written request for re-admission addressed to the
Dean and must attach an original copy of his Temporary Transcript issued by the Registrar’s Office of UST. The readmission
shall be subject to the Faculty’s rules on academic standards.
Readmission after more than one year of absence shall be subject to the Dean’s discretion and other conditions as may be
prescribed by him.
ATENEO
School Year 2015-2016







Applicant should be a graduate of Bachelor’s degree and should have earned 18 units of English, 6 units of
Mathematics, 18 units of Social Science and 3 units of Rizal course.
The applicant must accomplish the application form online.
He/she should pass the school’s entrance examination. For admission to the examination, the following
must be submitted.
o photocopy of collegiate transcript or records showing compliance with eligibility requirements stated
above. If graduation is not yet reflected, a certification of candidacy for graduation prior to entrance
in the law course must be appended to transcript.
o 3 copies of I.D. picture, size 2″ x 2″ with red background
o payment of testing fee of PhP2,000.00
He/she must submit two recommendations: one academic recommendation from the dean or faculty
member of his/her school, and one recommendation from a reputable source.
