90 Years of Accuracy
Sako was born in 1921. Original Finnish name for the company was Suojeluskuntain Ase-ja Konepaja Osakeyhtiö. (Firearms and Mashine workshop of the Civil Guard) The company was established to make and maintain the firearms that were used by the men in Finland´s newborn Civil Guard. Finland had achieved independence in 1917,and voluntary Civil Guard had an important role in maintaining defence readiness for the young Nation. The firearms were mostly old military rifles, needing repair, rebarreling and service. Soon facilities in Finland´s capital Helsinki showed to be too small, and Sako was relocated to a small town Riihimäki, about 75 km (46 miles) North of Helsinki, in 1927. Besides military rifles, also rifles for competition and hunting were designed. Prototypes of sporting rifles were designed and made already in 1930, but actual small caliber hunting rifles designed and made in Riihimäki emerged during the 2.World War. L-42 was born, and further developed to L46 after the war.This small game centerfire rifle became a world success. Sako was tested in several magazines and found the best production rifle “right out of the box”. Soon Sako developed larger bolt action sporters, L579 “Forrester”, L61R “Finnbear” andVL 63 Lever action “Finnwolf” were added to the “Flock” of fine Sako hunting rifles. In 1993 professional rifle designers decided to develop a dream rifle for devoted riflemen. Four years designers, metallurgist, product engineers and marketing department worked to develop and test and shoot the new rifle that evolved into the Sako 75. The year of introduction marked Sakos 75th anniversary. Full line of 5 different action sizes, detachable magazines, ergonomical stock, and various models emerged. Calibers ranged from 222 Rem all the way up to 416 Rem.Mag. On top of the 75 models was 80th Anniversary Safari rifle , made in 375Holland &Holland caliber.

Sako Today
Sako has come a long way since the humble beginning. Today our design department is fully computerized, all steel parts are made by the latest state of the art CNC machining. Some things have not changed: we inspect barrels by human eye, and we shoot every rifle manually with proof rounds and for accuracy. All of our rifles comply with C.I.P & SAAMI requirements. In the turn of the Millenium, Sako became an honored member of the Beretta Group. This gave Sako resources for even better product development and market response. Model Sako 85 was developed , based on the vast experience of modernizing the bolt action rifle. Further, model A7 was developed to give hunters to purchase an entry lever first class Sako rifle. We also developed the Sako Quad, world´s first rimfire bolt action rifle, with interchangeable barrels in 4 different rimfire calibers, for small game hunters and varminters. Sako Ltd. has become a respected manufacturer of military and law-enforcement rifles. Our TRG 22/42 and Tikka TAC are in active service duty around the world.Tikka hunting rifles are made by Sako Ltd. in Finland and have many hunting friends as well. Today our line of Sako 85 rifles is still adding an important 6th action size. 90 years Anniversary is beginning with Safari rifles in cal 450 Rigby. Barrel
All Sako 85 models have free-floating barrels manufactured by Sako specialists. Barrel blanks are drilled, honed, cold-hammer forged and finished, and finally individually inspected by complex and highly refined optical fine tuning instrument: the human eye.Twist rate is chosen for each caliber to optimize accuracy and bullet performance.The Sako 85 barrels, blued or stainless, have non-reflecting, satin-like surface except the Sako 85 Deluxe model that comes with highly polished metal parts.The Sako 85 stainless steel barrels are made from stainless steel with raised chromium content for better weather resistant and durability.

Extractor & Ejection
Sako 85 has famous extractor claw made of very durable heat treated special steel.When bolt brings the case back ,it is ejected by the active mechanical ejector fork out of the rifle. Ejector is in the rear bridge bottom, not in the bolt face.

Staggered, two-row magazine of the Sako 85 has a stainless steel construction.The detachable magazine can also be loaded through the ejection port.The Total Control Latch (patent pending) of the Sako 85 prevents accidental magazine releases.

Trigger
The weight of pull of the single-stage Sako 85 trigger unit is adjustable from 1 to 2 kg (2 – 4 lbs). An optional single-set trigger is also available for most Sako 85 models.The trigger of the Sako 85 rifles is protected by an extremely durable, steel trigger guard.

Action
The Sako 85 actions are available in 6 different sizes (CSA), providing the very best functions for each cartridge size. All Sako 85 models feature controlled cartridge feed (RCS) to virtually eliminate double feeding or cartridge jam.The Sako turnbolt handle gives natural hand position during bolt operation, which allows very quick repeated firing.

Safety
The special 2-way Sako safety locks both the trigger and the bolt handle. A unique bolt release button of the Sako Safety System allows you to load or remove a cartridge from the chamber with the safety engaged.

Sights
Most of the Sako 85 models with blued barrel finish are offered with optional adjustable iron sights.The front bead is adjustable in elevation and rear blade in windage.

Stock
The Sako 85 Walnut stock ergonomics are optimized to quarantee the best shooting posture. Excellent balance and smooth bolt operation make straight, accurate, fast shooting phenomenal to Sako rifles.

90th Anniversary rifles
We are bringing 6th action size to our 85 bolt action hunting rifles.This means, that our selection of calibers is growing, in the upper end.The 90 Anniversary rifles are all Safari Grade.The very top grade 90th Anniversary guns have individually engraved actions. 3 of these are made to be sold by auction during the worlds most important annual firearms trade shows:The Shot Show in LasVegas,The SCI(Safari) Show in Reno, and IWA Show in Nurnberg. 6 guns are sold exclusively by Beretta Galleries, (one gun each), and one will remain in our manufacturer´s show room, in Riihimäki, Finland. All of these 10 rifles are made in caliber 450 Rigby Rimless.
We are making 90 pieces of Anniversary series rifles with less pronounced engraving and in following calibers: 375 H&H (L 85action), 416 Rigby, 450 Rigby and 500 Jeffery (XL 85 action).

In a modern light
As a woman, I can appreciate hunting and shooting in a modern light, fully accepting new materials, form factors and solutions – even in firearms.This is the reason I chose for my own firearm the Finnlight, whose stock is made of a synthetic material, thus making it lighter to bear. It is a state-of-the-art rifle that pleases my eye and its light weight makes it the perfect choice for long hunting trips and treks. The new technology also makes it more weather-resistant - it is not so sensitive to changes in conditions. This suits me just fine, because I love the rain and even when things get a bit tougher. Steady and sure
In my opinion, accuracy and a good hit are most important features of the rifle.That’s why I also enjoy shooting at a range – there’s also a very good reason for this. It’s the SakoVarmint, which is my amazingly steady and sure companion on the hunt for 10s.We do go out hunting, too, but when we are tracking and waiting, this rifle is on the weighty side, with its heavy barrel.These are precisely the characteristics that make it such an exceptional tool for target shooting.This is a rifle that I can sight long and still be sure I’ll hit my mark.

Varmint rifle is the stable platform for precise shooting on small targets, generally with help of large scope sights and a rest under the weapon.Therefore ourVarmint rifles boast heavy barrels, single-set trigger, pronounced pistol grip and flat fore-end bottom.

The Sako 85Varmint Laminated Stainless comes with all the same qualities as the Varmint, but with its stainless metal parts and stabile laminate stock it is perfect in rough conditions.The fluted barrel accelerates barrel cooling and furthermore, gives this beautiful rifle an extra dose of good looks.

Pistol grip
Pronounced pistol grip means better hand position and precision.

This is a special small game rifle in 4 small rimfire calibers. Quad may be purchased in any of these rimfire calibers: 22 LR , 22 WMR , .17 Mach 2 and 17 HMR. However, Quad is a bolt action rimfire, with interchangeable barrels.The barrel change only takes a few seconds.This is done by inserting a tool, turning it 3 full circles , and tilting the barrel upwards and pulling it out of the action. Inserting another barrel and thus changing to another caliber makes this rifle really versatile. Accuracy is phenomenal. Barrels have individual serial numbers. This rifle is not an ordinary rimfire, it is a small bore hunting and training weapon system. Many variations are available.

Multiplicity
I have always been interested in technology and different technical solutions. I’m also an avid shooter and enjoy hunting small game. I also enjoy target shooting, where I can hone my skills by shooting, for example, cans. For this I need a small calibre rifle, but out on a hunt I want something with a bit more punch. Two different firearms sounds like a sensible solution, but there’s something better out there.The Sako Quad allows you to switch calibres, easily and quickly, even while out in the bush in the middle of a hunt.This is the perfect alternative for me.Technical, flexible, easy and sensible. An excellent way to combine two of my passions.

Sako Quad Hunter Pro was designed to look and feel like traditional Sako hunting rifles, but all features in it are up-to-date.The full-size walnut stock resembles the famous Sako 75 design and it offers the same out-of-the-box accuracy as all legendary Sako hunting rifles.

Each Sako Quad caliber has unique characteristics, and is designed to be optimal for specific shooting needs. The Sako QuadVarmint is an excellent choice for hunting and bench-rest target shooting, with its flat-bottomed extra wide fore end and heavier barrel.

Quad Synthetic
Sako Quad Synthetic comes with stylish modern synthetic stock, blued barrels and black rubber recoil pad. Sako Quad butt stock spacers are available for modifying the length of pull.

Quad Heavy Barrel
Sako Quad Heavy Barrel takes more shooting without getting heated up.The Monte Carlo -type cheek piece on black synthetic stock offers great bench shooting position. The rifle’s length of pull can be adjusted with butt plate spacers.

All Sako TRG receivers are drilled and tapped for an accessory Picatinny rail. The TRG-42 in 300Win Mag or 338 Lapua Mag is a true precision tool for serious long-range competition and can be equipped with a huge array of accessories to fulfill the most demanding requirements.

Rear stock has adjustments for cheek piece and butt plate to allow for shooter´s personal preferences.

Optional TRG accessories include a highly effective 3-chamber muzzle brake, scope/sight mounting systems, innovative clip-on bipod, extra magazines, emergency iron sights, mirage strap, Picatinny rail, auxiliary iron sights, sling and swivels, cleaning kit, transportation case, as well as spacers for cheek piece and butt plate. 1) Sako Hammerhead Heavy, jacketed bonded core, soft point for larger calibers. Specially designed bullet form and construction prevents core separation and allows controlled mushrooming for excellent stopping power. The bullet is very effective for elk type big game hunting at short and medium ranges. 2) Sako Super Hammerhead Heavy jacketed, strong and non-fragmenting, ensuring controlled expansion. Bonded core construction produces high weight retention, producing good penetration. Boat-tailed for high-ballistic efficiency means flatter trajectory. First developed and tested in Sako ballistic laboratories, followed by actual extensive big game hunting tests. 3) Powerhead Famous, all-copper and non-toxic, expanding big game bullet (Barnes TSX) made for Sako by Barnes Bullets. Ensures deep penetration and very high weight retention. 4) Gamehead Traditional and accurate soft point bullet. Excellent all-purpose hunting bullet on small/medium sized game. 5) Deerhead Deerhead is a bonded all-around bullet that can withstand extreme deformation without separation of the jacket from the lead core. Bullet expand rapidly and seldom loses more than 10% of its original weight. 6) Moosehead Moosehead offers massive, pre-programmed expansion to transfer extremely high energy. Rugged construction eliminates separation and the bullet holds together even when smashing through bone. 7) Twinhead II With its unique cross-member jacket design and the bonded front core, the Swift A-Frame™ Bullet has become famous for its ability to combine three critical performance features – controlled expansion, deep penetration and 95% weight retention at all velocities.

8) Arrowhead Ballistically advanced big game bullet (Nosler Ballistic Tip) manufactured for Sako by Nosler®. The bullet is very effective for thin-skinned big game and antelope/elk type big game at long ranges. The bullet has a polymer tip to maintain the good ballistic form, and the jacket strengthens gradually from thin front to heavy rear. This contributes to fast shock and large wound channel. 9) Arrowhead II Ballistically advanced big game bullet (Swift Scirocco II®) with heavy construction manufactured for Sako by Swift Bullets®. The polymer tip maintains the streamlined form until the bullet hits game tissue. Bonded core construction provides fast shock, controlled expansion and high weight retention. 10) Ramhead Strong, flat -nosed, solid, brass bullet (Barnes Banded Solid®) that is non-toxic, and contains no lead and has a double- diameter design for less friction. The bullet penetrates tissue deeply and reliably without expanding. Ramhead is a reliable big game bullet for special hunting situations. 11) Speedhead Full metal jacket bullet that delivers ultimate accuracy for target shooting and small game hunting. Ensures minimal pelt and meat damage on furred game or in bird hunting. 12) Cuthead Competition and training bullet leaving a clean hole on target paper for easy score interpretation. In full jacket form, this bullet may also be used on small game hunting like our Speehead™ bullets. 13) Racehead A thin jacketed, match hollow point and boat tail bullet (Sierra MatchKing®) developed solely for rifle competition.
