SAP HR Overview
The aim in the Human Resources component is to be able to
process employee related data according to business requirements in an effective structure. The Human Resources module uses a system of data grouped together called infotypes. And storing bulk data like time management and payroll data in cluster files. HR Programming involves data extraction and manipulation from these infotypes and clusters using LDB/MACRO and function modules. You can save the infotypes as time-independent to enable a retroactive evalution of employee data. The infotypes appear as an entry screen for the user, through which you can maintain infotype records. Infotypes can be processed individually or in fast entry mode.
Executing a personnel action
Organization Management perspective, companies can
model a business hierarchy, the relationships of employees to various business units and the reporting structure among employees. The Personnel Administration (PA) module helps employers to track employee master data, work schedules, salary and benefits information. The Personnel Development (PD) functionality focuses on employees skills, qualifications and career plans. Finally, the Time Evaluation and Payroll sub modules process attendance and absences, gross salary and tax calculations, and payments to employees and third party vendors.

Infotypes
An infotype represents a group of related data fields,
provide information structure, facilitates data entry and allows time dependent storage. In other words we can say infotypes are information units used to enter the time dependent data of the employee. Master data in HR is stored in infotypes. Each infotype pertains to a specific type of data. Each infotype has a database table associated with it. Time Constraints enable you to determine how the validity periods of infotype data records interact.
OM & PA Modules
Personnel Administration (PA) and Organizational
Management (OM) module form the base for entire SAP HR system. All other sub-modules in SAP HR are dependant / integrated with both PA and OM. In PA we maintain all personnel related data in what is called as Infotypes (Information Types). Organization Management module is used to capture and maintain the organization structure. And it uses various SAP system objects like Organization Unit (O), Position (S), and Job (C).
We need to have both PA and OM in place before we
can implement any other SAP HR sub module. SAP is integrated ERP System where all cross functional module are integrated with each other as well as all sub modules within a function are also integrated each other.

Reporting Tools
Ad hoc Query
The InfoSet Query is a useful tool for maintaining queries within the
SAP Query and is suitable for developing queries and for ad-hoc reporting. InfoSet Query is suitable for reporting in all areas of the SAP R/3 system. A special feature is the Human Resources (HR) component. When InfoSet Query is used in HR for ad-hoc reporting, the name Ad-Hoc Query is used instead of InfoSet Query. Ad-Hoc query provides three different kinds of reports: Basic List - Simple reports Statistics - reports with statistical functions such as Averages, percentages etc Ranked List - for analytical reports
