June 11, 2010 Dear Friends, Welcome and thank you for joining us for America SCORES Seattle's Night to Unite for Children—our 7th Annual Auction and Gala celebration. On this special evening, we celebrate our children's accomplishments, while thanking our generous supporters. SCORES serves children in Seattle's highest needs public elementary schools. Our programs teach literacy and performance skills, nutrition and healthy living and demonstrate how to give back through community service. The SCORES curriculum is designed to impact the mind, body and spirit of each individual child. The overarching program goal is for our children to experience an improvement in self-worth by learning the necessary skills and developing the expectation of living a successful life. Tonight you have the opportunity to help us provide the resources necessary to make a significant difference in the lives of children in need. About America SCORES Seattle
America SCORES Seattle was founded in 2002 to build long-term achievement among children in high-need public school communities. America Scores Seattle focuses on schools in metropolitan Seattle’s poorest communities. Currently, SCORES works with 6 public elementary schools to teach writing, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership skills to more than 200 children ages 8-12. Vital life skills learned on the soccer field are translated into the classroom, and then carried on into the community. America SCORES Seattle out-of-school-time youth development program integrates within every lesson our four core values: commitment, leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork. Teamwork provides the overarching framework, bridging the classroom with the sports field and nurturing individual achievement within a team environment of trust, encouragement and support. For five days per week, 25 weeks per year, SCORES’ Poet-Athletes participate in alternating writing and soccer workshops. Poetry, photography, community service and soccer are interwoven in a comprehensive program that provides the vigorous activity so important for growing bodies while building the skills critical for long-term success. America SCORES Seattle is truly a work of the entire community. From a highly qualified staff, to our dedicated board of directors, 60 teacher/coaches, numerous volunteers and poet-athlete families, it is the people of SCORES that create the framework–and soul—of the program. By being here tonight, and generously investing in the children of America SCORES Seattle, you are joining with hundreds of others to ensure the quality, depth and long-term sustainability of the SCORES program in our community. 1. 2. 3. Your number on your bid card is your identification for participating in all bidding opportunities. Raffle: Purchase unlimited raffle tickets for your chance to win a great prize. Drawing will occur throughout the evening; must be present to win. Live Auction: Items in the live auction will be presented by the auctioneer. If you are interested in bidding on the item, please raise your bid card high with the number facing the auctioneer and keep it there until your number is called for that bid amount. You may continue to bid higher amounts until you choose not to bid any higher or have won with the highest bid. The auctioneer will announce when the item has been sold to the highest bidder. If you win the bidding on the item, you must pay for it when you check out. Please carefully read the restrictions or limitations on any items up for bid. All sales are final and items are sold as is. If you make a donation during the Fund-a-America-SCORES-Seattle Program portion of the auction, your contribution is completely tax deductible. At the conclusion of the auction, please proceed to banking to pay for your purchases. Banking will be open at 9:45PM. Payment in full the evening of the auction is mandatory. Cash, check, MasterCard, VISA and American Express are all accepted. You may pick up your receipt this evening. All auction purchasers will also receive a receipt in the mail by June 30th. No items will be released from ITEM PICK-UP without a “paid” receipt. A “paid” receipt will be given at BANKING following payment in full. Snoqualmie Tribe Master Carver John Mullen will take you and a guest on a four-hour trip down the Snoqualmie River in a hand carved 27' dug out canoe. Beginning at the bottom of the Snoqualmie Falls, you will follow the same river of the ancient Snoqualmie Tribes, while paddling with traditional paddles, smelling the canoe's cedar scent, and enjoying wildlife like coyotes, beaver, fish and birds darting around the river. John will tell stories of his ancestors, the Snoqualmie Tribes Canoe Family, and their early life along the river, and sing native songs along the way. June 11, 2010 Dear Friends, Welcome and thank you for joining us for America SCORES Seattle's Night to Unite for Children—our 7th Annual Auction and Gala celebration. On this special evening, we celebrate our children's accomplishments, while thanking our generous supporters. SCORES serves children in Seattle's highest needs public elementary schools. Our programs teach literacy and performance skills, nutrition and healthy living and demonstrate how to give back through community service. The SCORES curriculum is designed to impact the mind, body and spirit of each individual child. The overarching program goal is for our children to experience an improvement in self-worth by learning the necessary skills and developing the expectation of living a successful life. About America SCORES Seattle
America SCORES Seattle was founded in 2002 to build long-term achievement among children in high-need public school communities. America Scores Seattle focuses on schools in metropolitan Seattle’s poorest communities. Currently, SCORES works with 6 public elementary schools to teach writing, teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership skills to more than 200 children ages 8-12. Vital life skills learned on the soccer field are translated into the classroom, and then carried on into the community. America SCORES Seattle out-of-school-time youth development program integrates within every lesson our four core values: commitment, leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork. Teamwork provides the overarching framework, bridging the classroom with the sports field and nurturing individual achievement within a team environment of trust, encouragement and support. For five days per week, 25 weeks per year, SCORES’ Poet-Athletes participate in alternating writing and soccer workshops. Poetry, photography, community service and soccer are interwoven in a comprehensive program that provides the vigorous activity so important for growing bodies while building the skills critical for long-term success. America SCORES Seattle is truly a work of the entire community. From a highly qualified staff, to our dedicated board of directors, 60 teacher/coaches, numerous volunteers and poet-athlete families, it is the people of SCORES that create the framework–and soul—of the program.
