Shanghai Summary

Shopping 1) Xin (1) Le (4) Lu (4) - This stretch of road has many clothing shops that sells branded clothes from factory, prices very attractive. There are many boutique style shops, you can stroll along the stretch. 2) Tian (2) Zi (2) Fang (3) - This is a little like Bangkok's Night Market, Shalom. There are many shops inside that are quirky. 3) Shan Xi Lu – Known as “Ladies Street, it is a long stretch of shops.. Food 1. This is another recommendation by Anthony Bourdain of No Reservations. Run down rest. But nice grilled yummies. We visited the branch at Wujiang Road, “Xiu Xian Jie” (also known as Gourmet Street). Later on, we learned that there is another branch at Huang He Lu (behind Park Hotel. Park Hotel is a historical protected site, used to be Shanghai’s highest building). 2) Jia (1) Jia (1) Tang (1) Bao (1) – Another rest. along the same stretch of road. This is supposedly one of the best Xiao Long Bao recommended by a Shanghainese friend. But we didn’t get to try it because the Q was too long to wait and the rest. is very small… Address : 90, Huang He Lu Tel : 63276878 3) On this same stretch of road, there is also “Xiao Yang Fried Dumplings”. Please try! I do not have the address of this rest. but it is directly opposite No. 2 of above. Just note that it is Huang He Lu. There are many branches too. 4) Qiao (4) Jiang (1) Nan (2) – This is a recommendation that we didn’t manage to try. We were told the food’s fabulous. Here’s their website and print out the outlets. www.qiaojiangnan.com 5) Xin (1) Ji (2) Shi (4) – Another one we wished we had tried. “The ricing of this one is less expensive than Qiao Jiang Nan. It's a little like Crystal Jade Kitchen. But food is good. Your must order the Pork with fats, shiok! Also got lots of outlets...check out www.xinjishi.com”
