What are the side effects of masturbation?
None at all. There are urban myths about strange side effects (hairy palms, blindness, loss of fertility etc) but they were always just myths and have been proven untrue. Just make sure that you clean up afterwards and that you hygenically dispose of the Kleenex or the like that you used. There are no side effects of the masturbation unless you do it in excess i.e, 3 to 4 times a day. Control it to only once a week. If you do it a lot then you may suffer from muscular weekness+neuro related disorders+lack of confidence+poor concentration etc. Years ago when sex wasn't talked about much (and even to this day some people don't believe in masturbation and feel it's evil and lustful) someone would say, "If you do that, you'll go blind" simply to scare the person and have them stop what they were doing. Masturbation is normal and relief system for most men and some women, but if it interferes with your life and you're making it your major entertainment then you need to get a life. Masturbation is the same as having sex. Instead of ejaculating into the partner's body, you use your hand to stimulate the penis and achieve orgasm. In effect, the side effects of masturbation are the same as the side effects of having sex. I just read a few internet pages where such as hair loss, fatigue, fuzzy vision, lower back bone pain are linked. But I don't know whether these effects are due to masturbation or related to any other health problems. There are beneficial side effects such as it stimulates the brain, it can help relieve and prevent acne breakouts, hormone levels are controlled, sexual desire is decreased. However, excess of this is not good for you just like everything else; as mentioned above. The benefits only happen when done at a reasonable level. It is beneficial to the system if you allow the stored semen to be purged from the testicles regularly, either through sexual intercourse or masturbation which are both natural in all species of life. Other answer: Masturbation can be detrimental to the mind and body depending on the condition of the individual. If one exhibits an unfavorable reaction as a result of masturbation, (depression, cystic/nodule acne, or baseness/limited brain function etc.) one can then presume that a present case of inflammation in the individual is being further proliferated by the act. Science(endocrinology[study of hormones]) explains this thoroughly: Dopamine (the precursor to adrenaline) is released into the brain when one masturbates or is highly aroused. Depending on the state of that individual if one happens to have an overly active adrenal gland (their day to day life is highly stressful) the dopamine will only further fatigue the process of the other hormones that are being produced in excess (causing these neurological problems [and other bodily symptoms]). The brain is specifically effected as such: the prefrontal cortex(dictates mood/behavior/personality/modes of intelligence) is inhibited (blood flow and activity) by the over activity of the adrenal gland. A study was made where two children were given a brain scan (a child of high stress levels [problems at home/socioeconomic status] and a child who experiences a significantly less stressful lifestyle [financially upper class/good home). The child

of more stress had significantly less activity in the prefrontal cortex than the other subject (proving the overactivity/fatigue of these hormones makes us dumber/depressed/unhealthy [brain eventually shrinks as a result]) GABA (an acid) regulates the prefrontal cortex as to prevent this from happening (I would recommend L-Theanine [harmless amino acid which is the precursor to GABA which also crosses the blood brain barrier 800 mg at least a day to supplement the current fatigue of a suffering masturbater) I also recommend 5HTP [200 mg occasionally] to nurture the neurotransmitters of the brain [promote neuroplasticity (raising mood while possibly keeping the adrenal gland on slow). L-Tyrosine (not more than 12000 mg a day as to avoid malabsorption of other proteins) to steady the dopamine that is produced. With all of this, one should eat a balanced diet and excersize (at least 4-7 days a week) and meditate. The libido will then be hightened and the suffering masturbater will eventually be able to indulge in this act once again with moderation; as long as external factors (causing stress)don't prevent this. secondary/easterner perspective: The taoists/buddhists also make reference to this as well: The chi (the energetic part of our anatomy) is released or transfered to another medium by certain acts (masturbation [depletes/recycles depending on circumstance of energy culmination] or other beneficial activities such as tai chi/meditation[which heightens awareness and the ability to sustain it]).Some taoists claim that masturbation must be done in a frequency in accordance with nature (an inherent biological clock) which may lead to one deciding to completely abstain or indulge in moderation. They believe that sexual energy is transmuted through the body and collected in the high self (brain/crown chakra/kundalini). Many have claimed that certain men have used abstinence from sexual indulgence and used it to further their mental capacity/peace (e.g., Einstein, Henry Thoreau, and others)[but all of this is merely theoretical and not validated by science...so please take heed to everything you hear but only with validation with either trail and error or other reasonable sources]) *references: Go on wikipedia, science articles etc. to further evaluate this thread.
