Abstract- Imagine a scenario in which the surplus electricity produced at homes or industrial establishment being fed back to the power grid for use of other consumers, and in return you get paid. It might sound obviously futuristic, rather unrealistic, power generation to a multiple producer consumer network and form a market place to try and sell power for consumers. KEYWORDS- LVDC, smart grid, automated meter reading. INTRODUCTION An active smart grid involves a two way electricity network consisting of many remotely controlled devices and their control systems. It also involves the integration of non renewable energy with other sources of power and efficient transmission, distribution and consumption of electrical energy.
• •

In addition it involves solar generation, plug in vehicles, smart meters, smart houses. Solar cells that can produce 15,000 KW electricity a year will be installed on the roof of apartment buildings.

.• Monitoring and adjustment of the energy consumption will be done through a control system installed for each apartment.

Data can also be monitored on the internet of the specific consumption of the customer through service provider Company. WORKING The working consists of following points 1. The concept is based on LVDC (low voltage direct current). 2. It enables the supply of solar cells and wind energy directly into the distribution networks and provides remote monitoring and control. 3. Automated meter reading is a term denoting electricity meters that collect data for billing purposes only and transmit this data one way usually from the customer to the distribution utility.

CONCLUSIONS The system can increase operational efficiencies by 50%.It will significantly reduce the loses and theft of electricity. A smart grid is necessity for plugging the next generation of automotives vehicles including plug in hybrid electric vehicles to provide services supporting grid operation. Such ancillary services hold the potential for storing power and selling it back to the grid when the grid requires it. These innovations look good enough to fill some of widening power demandsupply gap in India. .
