Official Venue Sponsors : Indian Navy Watermanship Training Center

February 6, 2006

To,

Sub: Appeal for sponsorship of Optimist Coastal National 2006
Catch ‘em young…….
Our country with its long and beautiful coastline
has attracted sufficient numbers to take to water
related sports and activities. History has proved
time and time again that it is the sea-faring nations
that have developed the best in trade, commerce
and strength.
Our Sailing Clubs are constantly working towards
improving facilities and introducing more and more
children to participate in this wonderful sport of Yachting. The Joint Optimist Sailing
Program has been conducting a program under the burgees of five of the leading
sailing clubs in Mumbai i.e. the Royal Bombay Yacht Club, the Bombay Sailing
Association, the Colaba Sailing Club, the Indian Navy Watermanship Training Center
and the Army Yachting Node since the last 6 years, to introduce children, in the age
group of 9 years to 15 years to the wonderful sport of sailing. These children are
introduced to sail single handedly in a boat called the `Optimist’.
Every
year
the
Optimist
Coastal
National
Championship is held and hosted at various coastal
centers e.g. Mumbai, Chennai, Goa by rotation. The
last coastal national was held in May 2005 in Goa
with 45 participants. This year, Mumbai has won the
bid for hosting the event. The Royal Bombay Yacht
Club, Bombay Sailing Association and the Colaba
Sailing Club have graciously agreed and are
honoured to host the forthcoming Optimist Coastal
National Championship in Mumbai. The event will
commence on April 29, 2006, spread over a week
and will consist of 12 individual races and a team event between all participating
clubs including the host Clubs from Mumbai, the SCCA, the INWTC, the AYN and
outstation Clubs from Chennai, Goa, Secunderabad, Khadakvasla, CESC-Khadki and
Pune. It would be appropriate to mention here that for two consecutive years the
Team event was won by the RBYC, Mumbai.

Official Venue Sponsors : Indian Navy Watermanship Training Center

We would like to offer a youth based sporting event to promote your organization
and its brand. The planned activity and media tie ups will provide fairly wide spread
exposure to your organization.
The Venue: The event will be conducted off the Indian Navy
Watermanship Training Center (INWTC) Jetty. Boats will be
launched from the above jetty and the sailing area will be
between Oyster Rock and Sunk Rock, south of The Gateway
of India. The INWTC boating facilities had been constructed
to host the 1982 Asian Games. After the Asian Games many
international events have been sailed from these facilities.
The venue therefore has all the trappings to conduct an event
of truly international standards.
Scope of the event: The event is of National level. The results of this event will
determine the Indian Contingent to the Asian Championship to be sailed in Taiwan.
As in the past Championships, the event will be well attended with a strong fleet of
over 40-50 young upcoming participants. The Championship will also serve as the
first round of Selection Trials for the Asian Games 2006, to be held in Doha.
Media Coverage: The event will be extensively covered by both the Electronic media
as well as the press. This coverage would cover all the cities from where participation
is expected.
Daily Sponsors: Every day’s events will carry a different sponsor and prizes and
certificates will be given away to all performers of the day, prominently displaying
and announcing the sponsors’ organization. The press coverage and releases will
prominently display the sponsors name/product in the form of both mention in the
results as well as reference to the event. (The event happenings of the Coastal
National sponsored by <name of organization/product) The prizes on that day will be
announced and carry the name of the sponsor.
Visiting Personalities: At the prize distribution we will bring in different
personalities every day to hand over prizes and witness the race. These would be
prominent personalities from the sports arena, services, industry and even the
entertainment industry. The personalities would be of the caliber that would interest
the press.
Web Site Exposure: A special web site will be launched atleast 6 weeks prior to the
event. The web site provides online registration, details of event, accommodation
available, notice of race and any other information that would be required by a
participant or his parents. During the event daily updates on race results,
photographs of the event and any other happenings of the event. We also provide
live links to other sailing sites in India and abroad. This sponsorship would also
include banners on other sailing sites affiliated to the event. A link to your corporate
site would be provided too.

Communications Partner: The communication sponsor will provide mobile and land
line communication in the form of a help desk/counter.
Media Partner: A prominent media partner alongwith a PR company will be
appointed to ensure adequate coverage.
The cost of sponsoring the entire event would be in the range of Rs 10, 00,000.00
We have however broken the same into smaller sponsorship modules. We are also
open to any corporate ideas that you may have in line with your organizations
marketing and promotion plans and policies.
We look forward to a personal meeting to explore sponsorship avenues.

We are `Optimist-ic’ about receiving your sponsorship for making
the Championship a huge success.
Yours sincerely,
For The Joint Optimistic Sailing Program
