Dallas resident Scott Meril loves
taking photos of the Dallas
skyline. On the State Fair of
Texas grounds one morning
before sunrise, he had a
different idea. Meril, whose
nickname is “Scooterbaby,” set
the timer on his Nikon D810 and
put himself in the shot. The
lights are from a car driving
toward him. "It reminded me of
a spaceship from the old Star
Trek series and that is what made
me think of the title, 'Beam me
up, Scooterbaby.' " Editors and
readers chose his shot to be this
week's winner. Meril wins a $100
gift card from Arlington Camera
and will advance to the
grand-prize round.
