FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE:
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Re-Enrollment for SY2011-12
Re‐Enrollment information for RETURNING STUDENTS for SY2011‐12
Re‐Enrollment requirements for all returning students will include, minimally, submission of an updated Health Form or Physical Form (depending on grade level) to the Clinic for a Clearance Signature and a Clearance Signature from the Cashier’s Office on the Re‐Enrollment Form. The Re‐Enrollment Form and other requested forms for each re‐enrolling student will be available by the beginning of April online from our website under Admission and Re‐Enrollment & Withdrawal or at the Admission Office during office hours (Monday to Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.). Parents may pick up a set of Re‐Enrollment Forms personally or your child can come to the Admission Office and get the forms. If you would like to have your driver or househelp pick up the forms, please give them a letter of authorization to collect the Re‐Enrollment Forms for your child/children.
For STUDENTS NOT RETURNING next school year
If your child(ren) will not be returning to ISM for the 2011‐12 school year, please inform the Admission Office as soon as possible if you have not already done so. Parents are obliged to officially inform the School in writing on a WITHDRAWAL NOTIFICATION FORM, before the second Friday of May, if their children will be withdrawn. Failure to do so will lead to a deduction of US$1,000 from the Facilities Upgrade Deposit (FUD), in compensation for having held a space for the child and thus preventing the School from offering that space to another child prior to the summer holiday break. The Withdrawal Notification Form can be obtained from the Admission Office or from the ISM website under the Admission tab and then click on Re‐Enrollment & Withdrawal. We currently have very few families indicating that they will not be returning and consequently there are an ever growing number of applicants in a WAITPOOL for possible openings. This is causing great distress and anxiety in those families (and in the Admission Office). If you are sure that your child will be leaving ISM, please submit a Withdrawal Notification Form. This will be a great help for our planning and to the many families waiting to be admitted to the school. Thank you. Regards,

SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
Dear HS Parents, We are very pleased to introduce you to a brand new and exciting initiative developed by the HS Guidance Department in cooperation with the HS Administration:
The Bearcat Summer Internship Program
As we all know well, high school for students is (among many things) a time of self-discovery. It is a time where our students begin to better acknowledge their aptitudes/likes, where they hone their strengths and where they begin to sort through that rather complicated map known as their educational and future career path. Unfortunately, it is often a map with gaps between what they learn in their “academic” classrooms and the “real world” their teachers are working to prepare them for. In short, we hope to help bridge that gap for some of our grade 10 and 11 students through a four day summer internship in June 2011 with various companies in the Metro Manila area. However, in order to make this work, we need reputable companies from a variety of industries to form partnerships with us and take part. As parents of our dedicated and motivated HS students, you may own, be employed by, or know of a company interested in supporting this very worthwhile endeavor. We ask for your support in helping us develop potential internship placements and subsequently, lasting positive relationships with companies in the Metro Manila area. We ask that you take time to reflect on this important initiative and its value for our ISM community. If you are in a position to take one or more of our students as an intern at your company for 4 days in June, please contact me at
[email protected]. I can send you further information about this initiative and the actual company application that is required.
Battle of the Bands! This year we will host our 9th annual Battle of the Bands, an event which has become a very inspiring tradition at ISM. Not only does it bring hundreds of people together to appreciate and support music and talent throughout our school’s community, but it also raises awareness and funds for a cause in the Philippines. This year’s profits will fund an Aeta community in Mount Pinatubo. The aim is to assist these provincial inhabitants by “lighting up” or providing electricity to their school. The BOB Committee and the ISM community will work together to provide sustainable solar technology necessary to generate and supply electricity for lights, a multimedia system, as well as computer and radio systems. We invite you and your families to join us this year at our Preliminary show on Saturday April 9 and our Finals show on April 15. They will both be great shows supplemented with amazing food from vendors such as Cafe Mediterranean and Bar Dolci as well as ISM Cultural Clubs
Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Doug McQueen Gr. 9/10 Guidance Counselor Bearcat Summer Internship Coordinator
