1. A PC did not receive an update from SMS. What steps would we take to resolve this?
If SMS not updated in client system. 1. Need to check system getting IPaddress or not. 2. Need to check system in domain or not 3.Ensure that windows firewall should e off.

! o"e reason SMS will not update to the client system.
2. A user in a corporate network contacts service desk saying he/she has lost network
connectivity !ow will you trou"leshoot the issue? What are the steps to followed? #irst you check to see if the ca le is in plugged in the machine. $hen you check to see if you can connect to a we site.

3. A #ser calls in and complains that her computer and network is running very slow.
!ow would go a"out trou"leshooting it?
• I would first ask the user whether every application on the computer is slow or is it just one particular application. if it is just one, try and sort that out. If the answer is all applications are running slow, look at common causes like, virus scans scheduled, free disk space on the home drive, RAM, lastly if the deployment team is rolling out any updates (which should not be done during business hours, but i ve seen that happen too !" If you suspect network latency, a simple ping test from the user s computer will tell you how many milli seconds network traffic is taking to reach the server.

#irst things first figure out if her computer is the only one that is working slow. Secondly if it is %ust her computer I would run some asic trou leshooting method. &heck her latest anti'"irus program make sure she is performing a scan if not on a daily e"ery 2 days. Perform a diskcleanup defrag her dri"ers and hardri"e. (elete all of her temp files unwanted programs in start up and unwanted ser"ices. then increase her "irtual memory and click apply for est performance option. )In win *P+. !lso delete temporary internet files from her profile. this is the correct way to clean the system. then check for the "irus and if any "irus scan and remo"e it. #irst of all I ha"e to check the ,!M capacity processor fre-uency "irual memory and .S dri"e space. Many time if we clean the e"ent log / temporary files from the system we get a etter performance. If we ha"e large space in .S dri"e this will help the computer programmes to run smooth. If I was there My first step is open msconfig.e0e then remo"e hea"y and unused files from startup then I remo"ed the unused ser"ices not Microsoft. $hen remo"ed $emp $emperory Internet files 1istory and restart.

If the pro lem continues then we need to scan the P& through anti"irus program after that I need to increase the ,!M.

6Slow6 is a relati"e -uestion so first determine what the user is e0periencing. Is it slow opening applications or while working in them7 is this a networked application or local7 If it is a we site or network application the tech can try to open it from their workstation. 2hen did this start7 &an you check co'workers sitting near you to see if they also report slowness7

#irst $uestion when did the problem start% Is anyone else in the same work group e&perience slowness. 'oes it happen all the time or is it intermittent any patterns of timings eg in the morning or late at night. If they are you need to take the route of looking at network response times. (ser network test ) #irst telnet or ping to an e&ternal website. If they can the network administrator will need to investigate. *heck how many users can painlessly be on the network concurrently If solely relating to one computer +hat task are you performing when you e&perience the slowness. Ask what browser and operating version they have. thoroughly check the process they are using remote access if possible. +ork in safe mode to see if its still an issue. this brings the computer back to factory apps rather than added ,rd parties. *heck your programs list if anything was recently installed that 'oes not need to be there of your recommended office virus scanner *lear cookies *lear history Make sure you have all the windows updates. -witch security of pop ups to on.
