Things to Consider Before Homeschooling Homeschooling is a huge step for any family, and even if you think that you're p repared, chances are you simply aren't. Don't feel bad - many people just don't know the things t o consider before homeschooling. Well, we're here to help you understand some of the things that most people simp ly 'skim' over in their thoughts. Remember that homeschooling isn't something light to consider - it's a big responsibility! Budget Low on budget? Maybe homeschooling isn't your best option - while there a re plenty of resources online, and at your local library, chances are you're going to have to purchase at least some materials. For a year, this can range from $250-$600, depending on what you purchase and wh ere. Setting aside money for curriculum is important, because you need to ensure that your children have what they need to learn. If you don't have a lot of money to start with, buy the basics - a math book is what you're sure to need, and an overall book about what your child needs to learn in his or her grade. With that as a guide, you can go on to find cheap or free materials to work with. Patience Some people claim that children are a Godsend. Others admit that the pa tience to realize this fact is the true Godsend of the story. You're going to be spending a lot of time with your children. Not only in the ev enings, but during the day when they're doing schoolwork. If you have trouble controllin g them for a few hours (Don't feel bad - we all do at one point or another!), then the enti re day may be extreme. The Ability to Say No Kids are smart, and no matter how much we want to call them angels, their ability to plan and manipulate is shocking. Kids know just how to push our buttons, good and bad. With homeschooling, you're going to need to just sit down and have your children do their school work, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. If you can't be stern and tell them that this isn't a play time, but a work time, maybe homeschooling just isn't for your family. Time, Time, We All Need Time Homeschooling is very consuming, and you're going to be spending a lot of time p lanning lessons, teaching, and then cleaning up after the day is done. If you just don't have the time or dedication, don't feel bad - many parents find out that homeschoolin

g just isn't for them, and that's alright. It does happen. Overall There are nearly countless things to consider before homeschooling your children . It's their education, and while the journey is extremely rewarding, it can also be ha rd.
