Everyone involved in planning and leading this service is under the age of 35, and we are SO grateful for our Moderator who, while still looking 35, intentionally invests in young people. She has certainly been a big supporter of bringing this dream to reality tonight! And so tonight we embark on a journey to our future. A journey designed to envision the MCC when those currently under 35 are Moderators, Elders, and leaders. A journey designed to appreciate the best of our past, challenge the present, and embrace the future to which God calls us. Join with us, sing with us, laugh with us, celebrate with us… dance with us! SAND—New modern-looking bowl with the “best” of the old sand, and the new sand the young adults bring. --Kedric Brown, Jalen Syftestad Call To Worship—Many/All All the young people are on stage for this speaking one set of lines, and the entire rest of the denomination (and therein the older generations) are responding. The Future (many): We remember. We remember all that has been done to make a way for us, to bring us to this moment. The Present (all): We believed in the possibility of a different world. With PRIDE, we see the new world that only you can bring into existence. The Future: We thank you for standing up to forces that would have silenced our people forever. For standing against governments, churches, schools—principalities and powers of all sorts. The Present: And we entrust to you the same challenge. To stare down injustice wherever you encounter it, believing that one day equality, peace, and unity will be achieved. The Future: If not for you, we would not be here. The Present: If not for you, the next generation of MCC will never be. The Future: Will you help us reach them? The Present: Yes, we solemnly commit to reaching them! But will you teach us how to reach them? The Future: Yes, we solemnly commit to teaching you how to speak to the young people of today and tomorrow. The Present: We confess we are a bit scared of all the change they may bring. The Future: We confess we coming bringing change. ALL: May God help us as we journey into the unknown future to which we are called. Video—“One Day” Prayer—done in many languages “God, we pray that you will help us envision, in this time tonight, the new MCC our generation will imagine.” Song Set Hear Our Praises May our homes be filled with dancing; may our streets be filled with joy May injustice bow to Jesus as the people turn and pray May our light shine in the darkness as we walk before the cross May your glory fill the whole earth as the water o'er the seas (Chorus) From the mountains to the valleys hear our praises rise to you From the heavens to the nations hear our singing fill the air, fill the air (Bridge) Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah God of Wonders God of all creation; of water, earth, and sky; Heavens are your tabernacle; glory to the Lord on High

(C1) God of wonders beyond our galaxy; you are holy, holy The universe declares your majesty; you are holy, holy; God of heaven and earth; God of heaven and earth Early in the morning; I will celebrate the light When I stumble in the darkness; I will call your name by night Bridge: Hallelujah, to the God of Heaven and earth (repeat 2x) Precious Lord reveal your heart to me; O God hold me, hold me The universe declares your majesty; you are holy, holy, holy, holy (C2) God of wonders beyond our galaxy; you are holy, holy; Mighty to Save Everyone needs compassion, a love that's never failing, let mercy fall on me Everyone needs forgiveness, the kindness of a Savior, the hope of nations So take me as You find me, all my fears and failures, fill my life again I give my life to follow, everything I believe in; now I surrender (Chorus) Savior, You can move the mountains; my God is mighty to save, You are mighty to save. Forever, author of salvation, he rose and conquered the grave, Jesus conquered the grave (Bridge) Shine Your light and let the whole world see, we're singing for the glory, we have been set free Jesus, shine Your light and let the whole world see, we're singing for the glory, we have been set free (Tag) Jesus, shine Your light and let the whole world see, We're singing for the glory, we have been set free Reading— Ecclesiastes 3:1-5—Imani Sullivan For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing. Liturgical Dance—“Sovereign God” —Michaela Rhone Sermon—Amanda Ackerman Offering—Rev. Brad Rice --The Global Justice Institute: supporting young activists all over the globe Offertory Special Music—Natasha Holmes—If Not Us, Who? Communion—Rev. -Giving You Me (Natasha Only) -I Exalt Thee The end…but not the end…the future’s future (this script should NOT be put on the screens) Younger Group: Whatsup guys? So you think you are the future? We are the future of the future! We are going to transform this church. We will make it straight. We will keep it young. We will reach out to a new audience. MCC will become more than a GLBT rights church. It will be a church with and edge to it that reaches those tired of doctrine, religion, and empty promises of change. Older Group Conversation: Person One: They are going to change everything! How can we stop them? Person Two: We can’t stop them. Person Three: It is wrong to stop them. Things are supposed to change. Person One: But how are we supposed to rest and make sure we have what we want if things are always changing? Person Two: I read somewhere that one of our early leaders from back in the first 60 years of MCC used to say, “You can always have your way if you have more than one way.” (Lillie Brock) Person Three: So, you see, the only way to move forward is to learn to live in and celebrate change. Person Two: Yeah, just have to let go! Person One: Okay, we let go. But then what do we do? Person Three: You bask in the freedom MCC continues to bring to the world. Person Two: You celebrate! All: Yeah…you Just Dance! Closing Song, Just Dance—Amanda Ackerman A/V: Sung with Backup Track Get Up, Yeah, Yeah! Things got to be a bit too much (oh, oh, oh-oh) I started feeling out of touch (Get in touch now) I had to take a break, I made a few mistakes Where is my head, I lost my way. What's go - in' on in our homes Sounds like religion baby, but without the fear anymore Is this new? what's the name of this church I can't remember but it's alright, alright Just dance, it'll be okay, doo-da-da-doo Just dance, throw your fears away, doo-da-da-doo Just dance, gonna be okay, duh-duh-duh, dance, dance, dance, just dance Wish I could shut my selfish mouth (oh, oh, oh-oh) I need to try to hear you out (Hear you out, right) Lift up your hands & praise, unity starts today Cuz we're all loving You tonight

Benediction: Just Dance into the joy of God’s future for MCC! Good night! A/V Folks: Play Just Dance Backup Track again as people exit.
