By Vithal Katrodiya, TPL - Krishnapatnam

For self and next generation, Energy saving is must to reduce the Green house effect and global warming. Hit of electrical energy crisis that people normally facing in summer, can be shortened with a contribution in conserving a small amount of electricity. This will help us / our next generation for having a suffice natural resources for some more time. When thinking about conservation, there are two basic questions to answer. First, what

technological changes can be made at your organization? Second, what behavioral changes can
be made? Some of the energy conservation tips mentioned here and that way we can reduce our Energy Bills & can reserve the natural resources till some more times. It provides you an ideal opportunity to reduce the cost of energy to you by following the below conservation tips: 1. Instead of using Electrical lights during day time better to grave optimum use of natural lights. 2. 3. 4. Avoid excessive illumination. Please keep only as many fans and lights on as you need. Do not use neon sign boards. Use only painted sign boards / radium boards. Due to commercial unit operation during day time especially 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, highest demand of the power supply will be there on Total Power system, therefore better to avoid power consumption in this peak time. 5. Better to use Washing machine, Geysers, Iron box, Water pumps & other major power drawn equipments in early morning or in evening after 7.00 pm. 6. Other major apparatus like Sound system, TV set, ACs, Lights should be off when there is no any specific application in peak time. 7. Charger for Telephone, cell phone, Emergency lights should be kept off while it got charged already. Mobile should not put in charging for whole night. 8. While going away from home better to switch off the main supply. By this way, we can have power saving of more than 5%

9.

Lighting devices like bulb, tube light, etc. consume energy according to their capacities. Use appropriate lighting according to your requirement. A so-called zero bulb uses 12 to 15 watt per hour. Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CEL) are available in 5.7.9.11 watts capacities and they give more light output.

10.

Power switch of any equipments / apparatus should off from plug itself instead of switching off from remote or from equipments otherwise it will still consume some power. By this way we can save 7% of total energy bill. Unplug infrequently used

apparatus, as many continue to draw power even when turned off 11. While away from work, Turn off PC instead of putting it in ‘slip’ or ‘screensaver’ mode. Because it will still continuously draw the power. This habit will saves up to 4%. 12. Consider energy-efficient computer systems and monitors when you replace a system. Make sure you enable your computer’s energy-saving features. 13. 14. 15. 16. Switch off all equipments instead of putting on ‘Slip’ mode. Use of lights of CFL will saves up to or more than 50% of your total lighting load. AC should be put up on LOW cool / MEDIUM cool mode only. Instead of putting two AC of small capacity in one room, put one AC with some higher capacity. This will save the minimum power consumption of one AC and additionally give the same cooling. 17. AC room must be isolated / in direct contact of outside temperature / sunlight. This will help to have a better cooling within less amount of energy. 18. 19. Turn off your ACs one hour before leaving your office / room AC Room temperature setting should be kept at 24 ˚C. More than 24 ˚C setting will save the power and below 24 ˚C it will draw more power. 20. Glass window should keep with thin black film and probably with curtains. That will cease the direct contact of heat to the room temperature and will be one of the reason better cooling. 21. Window AC & Outdoor unit of Split AC should must be provided with sufficient space for air circulation.

22. Refrigerator need at least 6 inch gape from wall for better performance and optimal power consumption 23. Allow refrigerated foodstuff to come to room temperature before heating AND allow heated foodstuff to cool down to normal temperature before placing it in the refrigerator 24. Refrigerator door should not keep open unnecessarily for more than 50 sec. Before opening the door, decide what you want from Freezer and refrigerator. 25. Compressor of all the cooling appliances should not be more than two times re-winded. 26. There should not be any loose connection in plug & sockets. 27. Heater / Geysers should be of sufficient capacity. It should keep on even though water heated. 28. Instant geysers are considered to be more efficient than storage type geysers. SOLAR WATER HEATERS OPERATE ON SOLAR ENERGY WHICH IS FREE OF COST 29. Washing machine should of sufficient capacity. Higher size of Washing machine will consume more power with the same work output. Otherwise wash the clothes when enough cloths are there according to your machine capacity. 30. Semi-automatic washing machine consumes less power compared to Automatic Washing machine. Cloth spinning should avoid in summer. Energy conservation in its most meaningful sense, acknowledging the responsibility which we all share, to use our natural resources intelligently and prudently, avoiding waste and preserving our treasured assets.

In current energy scenario, there is no any energy resource larger than Energy Saving Now. By Vithal Katrodiya, TPL - Krishnapatnam
