HISTORY OF

Ferrari

The Ferrari California convertible is named in honor of the open-top California 250 GT of the
1950s and 1960s and continues the Prancing Horse tradition of open-topped roadsters. This
California made its debut in Paris in October 2008 and stepped into the American limelight at the
L.A. Auto Show in November that year. The car was aimed squarely at the American market,
where convertibles sell like hotcakes -- especially in sunny California.
Ferrari achieved several in-house firsts with the California. It's the first mid-front engine V8 for
Ferrari, the first direct injection engine, first seven-speed double-clutch semi-automatic
transmission, and the first with a retractable hard top. The company claims the top can fold itself
away in 15 seconds. The price tag, which hovers around $200,000, includes a free seven-year
maintenance program.

HISTORY OF Hyundai
.Hyundai Motor India Limited was formed in 6 May 1996 by the Hyundai Motor Company of South
Korea. When Hyundai Motor Company entered the Indian Automobile Market in 1996 the Hyundai
brand was almost unknown throughout India. During the entry of Hyundai in 1996, there were only
five major automobile manufacturers in India, i.e. MUL, HM, PAL, TELCO and M&M. Daewoo had
entered the Indian automobile market with Cielo just three years back while Ford, Opel and Honda
had entered less than a year back.

For more than a decade till Hyundai arrived, Maruti Suzuki had a complete dominance and
monopoly over the Passenger Cars segment because TELCO and M&M were solely Utility
and Commercial Vehicle Manufacturers.
HMIL's first car, the Hyundai Santro was launched in 23 September 1998 and was a
runaway success. Within a few months of its inception HMIL became the second largest
automobile manufacturer and the largest automobile exporter in India.Hyundai Motor India
Limited (HMIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC), South
Korea and is the largest passenger car exporter and the second largest car manufacturer in
India. HMIL presently markets 6 models of passenger cars across segments. The A2
segment includes the Santro, i10 and the i20, the A3 segment includes the Accent and the
Verna, the A5 segment includes the Sonata Transform and the SUV segment includes the
Santa Fe.
HMIL’s manufacturing plant near Chennai claims to have the most advanced production,
quality and testing capabilities in the country. To cater to rising demand, HMIL
commissioned its second plant in February 2008, which produces an additional 300,000
units per annum, raising HMIL’s total production capacity to 600,000 units per annum.
HMIL has set up a research and development facility in the cyber city of Hyderabad.
As HMC’s global export hub for compact cars, HMIL is the first automotive company in
India to achieve the export of 10 lakh cars in just over a decade. HMIL currently exports cars
to more than 110 countries across EU, Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Asia and
Australia. It has been the number one exporter of passenger car of the country for the sixth
year in a row.

HISTORY OF

Skoda Laura Active

Škoda Auto is one of the largest car manufacturers in Central Europe. In 2010,
762,500 cars were sold worldwide, a record for the company
Škoda Works was established as an arms manufacturer in 1859.

The origins of what became Škoda Auto go back to the early 1890s where, like many longestablished car manufacturers, a company started out manufacturing bicycles. It was 1894, and
26-year old Václav Klement, who was a bookseller in Mladá Boleslav, in today's Czech
Republic, which was then part of Austria-Hungary, was unable to obtain spare parts to repair his
German bicycle. Klement returned his bicycle to the manufacturers, Seidel and Naumann, with a
letter, in Czech, asking them to carry out repairs, only to receive a reply, in German, stating: "If
you would like an answer to your inquiry, you should try writing in a language we can
understand". A disgusted Klement, despite not having technical experience, decided to start a
bicycle repair shop, which he and Václav Laurin opened in 1895 in Mladá Boleslav. Before
going into business partnership with Klement, Laurin was established as a bicycle manufacturer
in the nearby town of Turnov. In 1898, after moving to their newly-built factory, the pair bought
a Werner "motorcyclist",[nb 1] which was produced by French manufacturer Werner Brothers.
Laurin & Klement's first motorcyclette, powered by an engine mounted on the handlebars
driving the front wheels, proved dangerous and unreliable—an early incident on it cost Laurin a
front tooth. To design a safer machine with its structure around the engine, the pair wrote to
German ignition specialist Robert Bosch for advice on a different electromagnetic system. The
pair's new Slavia motorcycle made its debut in 1899.
In 1900, when the company had a workforce of 32, Slavia exports began, with 150 machines
shipped to London for the Hewtson firm. Shortly afterwards, the press credited them as makers
of the first motorcycle.[4] The first model, Voiturette A, was a success and the company was
established both within Austria-Hungary and internationally. By 1905 the firm was
manufacturing automobiles.

After World War I the Laurin-Klement company began producing trucks, but in 1924, after
running into problems and being hit by a fire, the company sought a partner, and was acquired by
