TRUST
It was the day of T-20 World Cup 2007 Final. India was playing against Pakistan. It was the last over to be bowled by India. Pakistan was batting and With one over remaining and one last wicket in hand, Pakistan needed just 13 runs to win. Dhoni was having an option of giving the last over to Harbhajan Singh the veteran spinner with 20 yrs of experience. Everyone thought that he would be getting the last over, but Dhoni gave the chance to Joginder Sharma. At the start of the final over, Joginder Sharma bowled a wide ball, which was soon followed by a dot ball. Not much time later, Misbah went for a six, leaving Pakistan need just 6 runs to win, with four balls remaining. As Misbah tried to go for another six, he was caught at short fine-leg by Sreesanth. …… and everyone knows that a History was created….. India won the World Cup T-20 Final match as well as the Championship, by 5 runs!!!!!!!!!! TRUST was the important quality seen in the leadership of the captain M. S. Dhoni. Dhoni trusted Joginder Sharma and gave him chance to bowl last over and Joginder Sharma proved his trustworthiness…....Dhoni has shown trust on many of his players for crucial instances and that made him one of the successful captains of Team India……. My idea of Leadership, as quoted in the above example, is TRUST. Every leader of the company has many innovative ideas. Leaders put their trust in the ideas they have. What he does is that he passes his idea to his team. Now the team has to work to bring that idea into reality. Once the idea is transferred to team members, the leader has to guide, monitor and majorly have a TRUST on the whole team for the complete set of action. And finally the innovative idea takes birth in the form of product or service. As rightly said by Warren Bemis: “TRUST is the lubrication that makes it possible for organizations to work.” TRUST binds all the members of an Organization. TRUST gives freedom, of the way one can work or implement ideas, to the colleagues and subordinates of the whole team.

Not only the Leaders need to trust on their colleagues but even the subordinates should have trust on their leaders. This mutual trust between both the levels only helps in the progress of any company. It’s a two way process. TRUST helps each member to communicate freely within the team which in turn helps the leaders to identify the right problems and finding the correct solution for them. If the team is satisfied, naturally the results will be overwhelming. It is said by Fred Hilmer, Australian Institute of Management: “Leadership requires five ingredients – brains, energy, determination, trust and ethics. The key challenges today are in terms of the last two – trust and ethics.” TRUST has given rise to many inventions. The whole world works on TRUST. Thus, TRUST forms the major aspect of Leadership. -Sneha O. Pawar.
