This programme is jointly taught by the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. If you intend to pursue a career in this specialist area of civil and structural engineering, in design consultancies and elsewhere, or if you want to transfer from other engineering disciplines, this programme is designed for you. It provides the advanced education required for the structural engineers of tomorrow. This degree is accredited as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer (CEng) for candidates who have already acquired an Accredited CEng (Partial) BEng (Hons) or an  Accredited IEng (Full) BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree.

MS c: 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time PgDip: 9 months full-time; 18 months part-time

Core course s  Applied engineering mechanics Computational modelling Fire resistance of structures Mechanics of repairing and strengthening structures. Plastic analysis of frames and slabs Structural concrete Structural dynamics and earthquake engineering Structural engineering preliminary research project Structural engineering review project Thin-walled members and stability. MSc students undertake an additional individual project. Entry requirements for postgraduate taught programmes are normally a 2.1 Honours degree or equivalent (eg GPA of 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject unless otherwise specified.
