Attention Sophomores and Juniors: National Honor Society
requires that you have a 3.5 or higher Cumulative GPA to be
eligible to apply for membership. All students who are eligible
should have received their invitation letter in the mail no later than
last week. If you would like to join National Honor Society and did
not receive a letter in the mail, please check with Ms. Snipes in
Room 1129 to see if you were on the list of eligible students. It
could be that your invitation letter was simply lost in the mail. This
is a time sensitive issue because applications are due no later
than 3:30 pm this Friday. No exceptions will be made.\

Today is the last day to get your Valentine Candy Gram from
National Honor Society. Be sure you stop by and personalize that
Valentine message to your special someone or just send a friendly
Valentine to your buddies. NHS will take care of the delivery for
you tomorrow. Each candy gram will include a sucker and cost
$1.00. They may be purchased at a table by the exit door of the
cafeteria during both lunches.\
Seniors, if you would like to include your accomplishments in the
CHS yearbook, please pick up a form from your English teacher or
from the table outside of the Yearbook room, 2210.\
Seniors---There will be only one college visit day that is excused
this semester. That day will be Tuesday, March 31.\

If you took Psychology or Sociology last semester, please return
your textbook to the Media Center.\
Plan Test results are in the Counseling Center for any 10th grader

Feb. 24, UALR representative will be in the counseling center to
meet with any junior interested.\
The annual CHS AR-053 AFJROTC Dakota Hawkins Memorial
Scholarship/Service Award application is now available in the
counseling center. The award will be given to a citizen of character
dedicated to serving his/her nation and community. Applicants
must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, no discipline file and must be

college or military service bound. The scholarship honors the
memory of Dakota Hawkins, a young Cabot student who, while
battling the illness that eventually took his life, spent his time,
spirit and energy serving those around him, particularly the young
kids he encountered in the cancer ward.\

Summer STEM Camp is designed to spark and cultivate interest in
the many academic disciplines which make up science, technology,
engineering and mathematics. A hands-on, design-based program,
Naval Academy Summer STEM will challenge students to think
scientifically, problem-solve creatively, and work cooperatively in
teams. Open to rising 9th, 10th and 11th graders, Summer STEM is
led by USNA faculty and currently enrolled midshipmen and is a
great fit for students looking to broaden their understanding of

The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar is a fast-paced,
six-day experience for high achievers who have completed their
junior year in high school. Summer Seminar teaches students about
life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and
professional training play equally important roles in developing our
nation's leaders. If you have students you feel would be interested
in pursuing an appointment to one of the nation's service
academies and serving the country as an officer, encourage them to

The Chancellor's Leadership Corps (CLC) is a comprehensive
scholars program at UALR that focuses on learning, leading, and
serving the community. These scholarships are renewable up to 4
years. The award amount can be up to $8,000 a year and up to
$32,000 for four years.

UAMS College of Pharmacy is offering a summer camp for high
school rising seniors and recently graduated high school students
entering college interested in learning more about career pathway
opportunities in the profession of pharmacy. Applications are

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is
offering the Frances Crawford Marvin American Indian Scholarship
to Native
Americans. The applicant must be an enrolled member of a Native
American tribe recognized at the federal or state level (must have
proof by an issued card by a Tribal Council or a letter from the
Tribal Council). Applications are available in the counseling center.

Seniors - The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is for
extraordinary people who have over-come obstacles, and bettered
themselves and their communities. This program is for students
who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering,
technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) is pleased to
announce that applications are being accepted for the 2015
National Youth Science Camp until March 1, 2015. Two high school
seniors will receive a full scholarship to exchange ideas with
scientists and other professionals from the academic and corporate
worlds. The nearly month-long experience includes lectures and
hands-on research projects presented by scientists from across the
nation; overnight camping trips into the Monongahela National
Forest; and a visit to Washington D.C. The selected delegates must
not only demonstrate academic achievement in science, but also
show potential for thoughtful scientific leadership.
The NYSC experience is offered at no cost to its participants, so
that selected delegates may attend regardless of their financial
status. Contributions to the National Youth Science Foundation®
allow delegates to participate in this “once in a lifetime”
experience. Educational and recreational programming, as well as
meals, lodging, and round-trip air passage on scheduled airlines
are provided free of charge. Delegates arrive in Charleston, West
Virginia, on Wednesday, June 17, and depart on Saturday, July 11,
2015. The NYSC is held near Bartow in the eastern mountains of

West Virginia, within the Monongahela National Forest. Application

Seniors - The Major Jacob Gray Chapter, NSDAR Scholarship
application is available in the counseling center. A $750
scholarship is available to a student majoring in history, historical
preservation, elementary or secondary education, or medical field.
Applicants must have a 2.7 G.P.A. or higher on a 4.0 scale through
the first semester of their senior year. Deadline is March 1, 2015.\
Kohl's Cares Scholarship Program is accepting nominations for up
to $10,000 scholarships for the national winners. Students must be
between 6 and 18 years of age as of March 15, 2015 and not yet a
high school graduate. Volunteer efforts must have occurred in the
last year. Nominators must be 21 or older.

Seniors - The American Legion is awarding (4) Coudret Trust
Foundation Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each and (4)
Garner Trust Foundation Scholarships in the amount of $2,500
each. Selections are based upon
American spirit, character, leadership quality, scholastic endeavor,
and basis of need. Applicants must be children, grandchildren, or
great-grandchildren of American Legionnaires in good standing of
two or more consecutive years membership. Operation Enduring
Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom Era veterans are exempt
from the two-year membership requirement. Applications are
available in the counseling center. Deadline is March 14, 2015 at
the Arkansas Department Headquarters of the American Legion.\

BHMC Little Rock - A-Team Volunteer Program
A-Team (Amazing Teens Effectively Active in Medicine)
There is a program fee of $50 and a simple online application.

Applications will be accepted through March 15th from 9-12 grade
students. The program will run from June 15th to July 29th,
from 8:00 am - 12:00 noon Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays. 9th
& 10th grade students are eligible for the educational component
only, while 11th & 12th grade students may also be considered for
in-house volunteer service during the rest of the week.
Students will have the opportunity to experience panel discussions
with administrators, nurses, therapists, & other health-care
workers; have CPR training & other interactive activities; tour
MedFlight, eICU, Eye Center, Women's & Children's areas; shadow
health care professionals; watch filmed surgeries; participate in
team building activities.

Seniors - If you are majoring in art at UCA, you may apply now for
the Windgate Scholarship. The scholarship is based on talent and
financial need and can be worth up to $2,000 per semester in the
freshman year, based on amount of financial need. The scholarship
is renewable and can increase up to $1,000 each year so that in the
senior year, up to $5,000 per semester may be awarded.

First Electric is offering an all-expense paid trip to the Electric
Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. The trip will involve
more than 1,500 students from across the nation in touring our
nation's capital June 10-18. Any high school junior whose parents
or guardians are members (customers) of First Electric is eligible.

BHMC North Little Rock - Volunteen Program
Interested students will submit an online application, be entering
9th-12th grade, submit a copy of current report care (3.0 grade
point average), submit two letters of reference, & write a one-page
double spaced essay on "Why I want to be a Volunteen".
Applications must be sent in by March 20th by 4:00pm.
The program will run June 15th through July 30th. Selected teens

will work two days per week
either Monday/Tuesday or Wednesday/Thursday. For more

scholarship program. Five $2,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Seniors - The Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship is now available
