Dear Mr.

,

Thank you for writing to me to regarding Federal Air Marshal Robert MacLean's appeal to the U.S. Merit System Protection Board (MSPB). I am grateful for your thoughts and I appreciate the opportunity to respond. As you may know, Mr. MacLean was terminated from his position with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) after disclosing Sensitive Security Information. Mr. MacLean disclosed a proposed TSA plan to cut costs which may have prevented Air Marshals from patrolling long-distance flights. Subsequently, Mr. MacLean was relieved from his duty as a Federal Air Marshal. The MSPB, which determines whether or not an individual receives whistleblower protection from a government agency, ruled in favor of the TSA stating that Mr. MacLean was not wrongfully terminated for divulging the TSA's proposed cuts. I have asked a member of my staff to look into Mr. MacLean's case at greater detail and I will proceed appropriately upon the findings. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as your United States Senator. I appreciate you offering your opinion on this important issue. If I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Marco Rubio United States Senator
