1) www.prezi.com -http://prezi.com/vxprainscoxz/csc-111-computer-science-in-the-21stcentury/?auth_key=f76d9a20a2140dc6c9c4bc0064f50385d8aaa0bb When I first entered the site I was prompted to register. After a basic registration all I had to do was click a simple button and immediately it gave me a light selection of templates. After choosing one I was able to quickly pick up the basics of how the program worked just by playing around in the editor. After drawing up a simple page I came to a few conclusions about the program. First and foremost this is a very useful tool. If I wanted to throw together a presentation in order to show various things to a company or maybe even just colleagues this would obviously be a great way to do so. Its quick easy and intuitive, you can rapidly throw together a well done presentation with just a few button clicks and light text editing. Second is convenience, and this is the part of it that shows where a web tool really shines. I can get to this from anywhere that has internet. I can access it and put it on a projector or just send a link to people who need to see it. Just to add to that it allows me to share a link that would allow someone else to edit it from somewhere else if it was a join project. If I really need to I can download a copy from anywhere. To finalize this thought I can see a lot of marketability and in general the basics behind what a computer scientist should do. According to the video by the co-founder Adam SomlaiFischer originally this was only meant to be a tool for personal use. Now it is a marketed item that I could easily see being worthwhile for companies to buy. This only shows that it is a prime example of what pursuing Computer Science in the 21st century should mean. To be able to create new computer based abilities to ease a process and to help secure a profession where your skill set is worth either a job with a company or a product of which you create your own income.

2) www.scribd.com - http://www.scribd.com/doc/79164922/Pursuing-Computer-Science-in-the21-st-Century When I first entered the site I was again prompted to register. It makes one realize just how important that single process is to the website itself. The log-in is a sure way for one to be able to have access control to their things. Depending on the website it might also allow you to save settings and preferences, and in general just configure things to how you like. From the programing standpoint - it gives you a good way to key entries into a database so they can be sorted, retrieved, and controlled. Moving on to the program itself was probably one of the simplest things I've done all week. There was a button that said upload, so I clicked it and uploaded the Case Assignment I had written previously. It gave me a message asking if I understood copy-write laws and would not be violating them by posting my paper. Confident that I was the sole author of that paper and sure that I had the right to post it there I clicked the accept button and watched it load. It gave me the options to state the categories and title of this paper and after it uploaded I moved on and looked around the site a little bit. There was plenty of reading material available on it; even on the home screen it gives you suggested reads. There was also a portion of the site where you could purchase articles and books but I have yet to figure out even after playing with it for some time how to upload a document and charge money for it. This is a very convenient and helpful site I probably will use again later. Out of curiosity I clicked on the job searching part of the website and found that they are actively seeking for five positions that all required a Computer Science degree. Going back to the articles from this module it really shows the truth in the statistics for jobs in regards to the fact that there are jobs waiting out there for those that are pursuing Computer Science.

3) www.posterous.com - http://computer-science-studies.posterous.com/ It has now become a routine that instantly upon entering this site, I created a login and profile. Considering it such an integral part of using web-based programs there are probably classes on how to just create log-ins, how to choose passwords, and what information you should or should not put in; then in reverse classes just on how to put those things into your website. This site seemed to have a little more to it than the others so I took a quick look at the 5 slide reel it had for quick starting. I created my first 'Space' and then tried to look at it ± with it promptly giving me a message saying I need to verify my email before I could see everything. After doing so and going back to the site I found that I had 2 spaces. One that it auto creates and the one I created. I tried to delete the default one, and could find no real way to do so. Clicking on the one I created it gave me 2 new options, one to delete it and another to set to default. I tried to set it to default so I could delete the other one ± which it then prompted me something about sending emails to that space. I decided not to fiddle with that for now and continued to experiment with the site itself. I made a post into my 'space' which is really just a blog. I uploaded my Case assignment into it because I really don't mind if my papers are spread around the internet. If someone does want to read them I really don't see a problem in letting them. Out of the entire website I had the most fun with this one. I got curious as to how they make their money so I decided to look around a little. It turns out they have stated they plan to make revenue buy having businesses host their web front on their site. Also another source claimed a few facts about using affiliated links, which I'm still not sure whether I like or not. They were still deciding if they were going to do it in 2010 and I haven't seen anything else on it yet so I still have more to learn about this website.

Conclusion

My last thoughts about Web software tools ± They are a nice aid in this rapidly growing technological era. The movement of information is pretty vital and the ability to modify and present it seem to be very vital and an integral part of the work for someone with a Computer Science job. Some cons I can see would be the control of that information once uploaded and reliance on the internet for everything which is becoming less of a problem everyday it seems. Web tools are currently, and increasingly, an integral part of the Computer Science world.
