Braumeister Brewing System
• E
xtremely simple to use – takes the mystery out of
brewing!
• Use to make any type of beer/ale
• Hot liquor tank, mash tun & copper in one compact
vessel!
• Auto programmable temperature & time functions
• Reliable replication of results
• In 20, 50, 200 and 500 litre capacities
The Braumeister is a compact, self-contained brewing
system which allows you to make any type of beer
– English ales, lagers, ‘Blonde’ beers, wheat beers –
anything! It has fully automatic, programmable temperature
and time functions, and an integral sparging pump. The
accurate, automatic controls give you good, consistent
results, and reliable replication.
The Braumeister combines a hot liquor tank, mash tun and
copper in one compact vessel. All models contain powerful
elements for fast heating, and a pump for sparging.
Available in 20 litre and 50 litre capacities for home brewers and breweries developing new beers, and 200 litre and
500 litre capacities for micro-breweries, especially if space is limited.
The Brewmaster can be programmed by the brewer according to the recipe for the beer
being brewed, with the following programmable phases:

1. Mashing the wort
2. Protein phase
3. Maltose phase
4. Saccharification phase
5. Hop boiling

See the Braumeister
in action at
www.vigoltd.com

The precise temperature and time can be set and the Brewmaster gives appropriate
prompts to the user at each stage. After hop boiling the wort can be rapidly cooled using
the optional stainless steel wort cooling coil (cooling jacket supplied with 200 and 500
litre models). The beer then needs to be transferred to a fermenter for fermentation. For
stainless steel tanks and temperature control systems see pages 4 & 5.
The 200 litre and 500 litre models are supplied with a lifting crane to lift the malt cylinder,
and an external cooling jacket which can be connected to the cold water supply in order to
cool the wort.

Pumps
Vigo offers a range of pumps suitable for a range of applications in breweries,
with the following options:

Temperature Control
Brewers are looking to temperature control as a way of ensuring quality and consistency
of their product. Temperature can be controlled at the room level, tank level, or product
can be directly cooled or heated. This can ensure that wort is cooled at the rate you want,
fermentation occurs at the rate that you want, and that your beer is stored in the conditions
you want. Controlling temperature can also help your product retain some of the delicate
flavours which can be easily lost. Chilling is also essential where beer is to be carbonated.
Vigo offers the Kreyer range of specialist refrigeration and temperature control equipment
from Germany. This equipment is designed to meet the rigorous requirements of modern
brewing including:

R
 apid cooling of wort
F
ermentation control, including control by CO2 monitoring
Long term control of product storage temperature
Product chilling prior to carbonation

Vigo has vast experience of specifying and installing
temperature control systems. We can advise on the
most appropriate equipment for your needs, which
can be installed by our own engineers.

Heat exchange can occur at
the tank level, through heat
exchange panels, jackets or coils.

be used to set future batches ensuring consistency of
fermentation and storage conditions. Fermentation rates
can also be controlled by CO2 monitoring. The system
can also be controlled remotely via the internet and an
SMS warning alarm option is available.

Case studies
The Little Beer Corporation
The Little Beer Corporation is a recently established nanobrewery
based in Guildford. They produce a variety of 11 or 12 styles of beer
from around the world, in beautiful Italian beer bottles. Having sourced brewing plant,
they required stainless steel fermentation and conditioning vessels. A system to control
in-tank fermentation and conditioning temperatures along with air conditioning of a store
room was also required.
Vigo supplied and installed four Speidel stainless steel tanks with heat exchange jackets, along with a Chilly Max 110
cooling and heating unit. Vigo engineers installed a ring main to circulate coolant from the chiller to each tank, with a
FermFix thermoregulation kit on each tank to control and display the individual temperature on each tank. Vigo engineers
also installed a Thermofan air conditioning unit to control room temperatures, run off the same system.
Jim Taylor, owner of the The Little Beer Corporation, said: “A lot of micro-brewers spend all their start-up money on the
Brew-house. But in actual fact, the kit that is needed at this front end, doesn’t have to be all that sophisticated. So I
chose to put a relatively high proportion of my funds into getting new fermenting and conditioning tanks and really good
temperature control of these. Really good temperature control of fermentation, makes the difference between mediocre
& good beer. Vigo offer two things. Firstly, great gear ...all of the equipment comes from great manufacturers and the
Speidel tanks are world-class. Second, and even more importantly, they offer great service – which is really important
to any brewery. They are true professionals and their service is amazing. You can ring their engineers with questions
at any time, and they’ll help you out. If it can’t be fixed on the phone, they’ll come and see you and will do the job
properly – as opposed to rushing on to another job. Going with Vigo was a good decision. I’d recommend them without
reservation to other brewers”.

Thornbridge Brewery
Vigo have supplied a CIMEC America DPS automatic filling machine with
an STS labelling machine to Thornbridge Brewery to bottle their range of
innovative, prize-winning beers.
Rob Lovatt, Head Brewer at Thornbridge, said, “Vigo provide an exceptionally high level
of qualified service through their team of multi-skilled engineers. I regard this level of
after-sales service as essential for any busy producer.”

The Friday Beer Company
The Friday Beer Company is based in Malvern. They produce a range of
premium bottle conditioned real ales, using locally sourced ingredients.
They required an affordable brewing system which could rapidly produce
enough beer of different types which they could efficiently bottle and take
to market. The system also needed to provide flexibility to change recipes to suit the
seasons, and to give good consistency of product quality.
Vigo initially supplied the 20 litre Braumeister system, which was used for experimentation and product development.
Later, they decided to scale up to a 200 litre system. Vigo also supplied Stainless Steel fermentation vessels from
Speidel, along with bottling and labelling equipment.
Gerald Williams, Director, said, “Initially we purchased the 20 litre Speidel Brewmaster
system to use for experimenting and have now scaled up to the 200 litre system. The
brewery is now successfully selling at farmers markets and other local outlets and the
beers taste great. We intend to grow and bring these great ales to other parts of the
country. Vigo was able to offer us these unique and versatile brewing systems giving us
an affordable way into the brewing business. Fermentation vessels, bottling equipment
and labelling machines all came from Vigo and their help and advice has been key to
building our new company.”
