Job Title

Lab Assistant

Job Location

3057 BGS, UWO Campus

Job Description Each year, a small number of Western undergraduates assist in my lab's research; their work is highly appreciated and contributes to the success of my own and my graduate students' research. The ideal candidate is bright, enthusiastic, meticulous, and reliable - even mundane tasks have to be done correctly and samples labeled accurately for our work to succeed. Our work is on ecology and evolutionary relations of soil fungi - mushrooms and moulds and their relatives - and involves microbiology (culturing), basic molecular biology (DNA extraction and PCR amplification), and bioinformatics (sequence editing and analysis). Volunteers usually start on the most basic tasks and progress as their skills and experience increase. If you have a 4-5 hour block of time each week that you could spare (alternate arrangements can be made in the case of exams or assignments), have the required characteristics mentioned above, and are interested in gaining experience in a biology lab, please send me <[email protected]> an email with your unofficial transcripts and cv. Selected candidates will be contacted for a brief interview. 2012-09-17 00:00:00.0 Start Date End Date
